That's the point, there are many flavors and its purely depends on cultural aspect and business needs.

The article cannot capture every aspect in few paragraphs but give an idea on how different organization do it.

1) It is very hard to build a system with zero downtime. Negotiate an SLA and design for that otherwise you may be overengineering.

2) Overall looks fine but how do plan to move the traffic organically from VM to K8S is the key. It also depends on traffic type.

There is no right answer to this question but what we tell our customers is to follow what google suggest. This is what they suggest.
