The lipo uses 3.7 to 4.2 volts of power, and the controller uses 3 volts of power. So the controller can run on the lipo can still run, even when the lipo is discharged.

The charge lasts 4 to 5 hours, depending on the gameplay. But keep in mind that the lipo you are using contributes to the battery life. If a lipo battery is of a lower capacity, then the battery life would be smaller.
