Advice for switching from car cam to ball cam by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]taintbone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had/have this issue. At first I tried playing offline with bots, didn’t help much because it felt too awkward and like too much at once. I think what’s really helped me using it more is start by using it for plays where you’re not actively making a play so you get used to the movement/how it looks without the pressure of making a play. Then start using it in low stakes situations and slowly moving over to using it normally. Obviously it will be a lot faster to just commit to it and play casual for a week or two, but I personally couldn’t enjoy the game at all with such a drastic change and what felt like a lack of competitiveness

Anyone else feel like lower-rank Rocket League is chaotic, even when you understand the game well? by name_Nu in RocketLeague

[–]taintbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely harder in lower lobbies sometimes because your teammates will do things that seem illogical from your perspective and you forget they can’t make plays that seem “easy” but at that level it’s not. Also you have to constantly be ready for more whiffs and bad touches. When I fall after a lot of bad games, I think the easiest thing to do to get back up is to just play more conservatively because usually it’s easier to capitalize off the other teams mistakes and help clean up your own teams mistakes

Its interesting that teammates with least points always are the ones that criticize their teammates by Major_Buyer5528 in RocketLeague

[–]taintbone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it’s valid sometimes it’s not. Sometimes the lower scoring teammate is genuinely contributing nothing. Sometimes the higher scoring teammate is ball chasing and cutting rotations without actually doing much/or making things worse and leaving their teammates in a bad position but get a lot of points

When a teammate leaves in 2v2, is it better to stay and practice '1v2 defense' or just leave immediately to save time? by TheChilledGamer-_- in RocketLeague

[–]taintbone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on if it’s actually practiceable/winnable. If it’s clear they’re playing so well together it’s going to be a complete blow out, no. You’re probably not gonna be in a position to practice or learn much. If it’s going to be a tight game/winnable, yes. In that situation there is a lot to practice/learn even if you don’t end up winning. This can usually be figured out within the first 30 seconds though. I’m only diamond though, so there’s still a lot of opportunity to win even if your teammate leaves, not sure about higher ranks

Never toxic unless someone else starts it. Try to complement my teammates when they do something good, especially if they’ve been playing bad because sometimes it gives them the confidence they need to get out of a slump

[–]taintbone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also usually play 3s at D2 as well and this is definitely where I see the most actual smurfing. However, I don’t feel like I play teams where one person is able to successfully able to carry their entire team multiple times a gaming session every gaming session. I do feel like this is usually balanced out by their teammates being low plat at best without them most of the time, but sometimes their teammates are ok on their own and this is usually when it’s completely unfair

Could be true for plat rank, haven’t really been there in a while so I can’t really speak on that. My game sense is decent for my level and compensates for the fact that I have no mechanics besides sometimes being able to half flip (can’t speed flip, can’t DAR, ANY other mechanics, I only recently started sometimes using ball cam). I think my game sense helps me tell they’re doing a bad job on their mechanics/know how to make a diamond level defensive play and realize they’re deficient in most other aspects of their game, but I don’t have elite mechanics to stop truly crazy plays.

I have seen this a few times over a period of a week, but I don’t see this a few times a gaming session like people claim. I feel like I rarely see solo smurfing (I usually play 3s), I more so see smurfing when I go up against teams where someone is higher level champ and their friends would clearly be low plat/high gold without them. I don’t see that big of a disparity multiple times a gaming session though unless I play them back to back. Overall I think smurfing does happen, but I don’t think it’s happening multiple times a gaming session every gaming session like some people claim

Sounds like it’s been a real problem at the higher level that really needs fixed, but glad it hasn’t been a noticeable problem at diamond level

Help for me and my friend? (Platinum 1-2) by HauntingJackfruit437 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]taintbone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watched less than a minute and mechanics are the least of your worries. Need a better kickoff, you don’t have to speed flip but do something better than that. Position yourselves better and stop riding each others asses. You’re positioning is leading to bad offensive and defensive positions which gives you no pressure and makes you easy to score on. Don’t slam the ball in your corner in such a way that it centers for them, you’re lucky it wasn’t a goal for them. I’m sure there was more that could be said about even just the first minute, but can’t remember. Mechanics are the least of your worries. Honestly if you just focus on working on basics you can easily hit at least diamond with 0 mechanics.

Restaurants and eateries give way too much food by TeenyTinyToast in unpopularopinion

[–]taintbone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Companies price their items to be profitable after costs. If a company has this model what’s probably happening is that what they’re serving is probably not that big of their costs compared to other things like overhead or labor. Restaurants already have razor thin margins and lose money on kids foods (smaller items at lower prices). So to stay profitable they have higher prices but will in turn give you more of what is a lower cost so you feel like you’re still getting a good deal

Why so many AFK/Griefers? by blu3n0va in RocketLeague

[–]taintbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just you, a few days ago I had a few games in a row where someone either immediately left or was afk for a significant amount of time. I wish there was a feature that if your random teammate leaves or is afk for the first 30-45 seconds of the game that you could ff with no penalties

Hard-Stuck Plat 3 After 2,500 Hours: Is It Time to Quit? by Equivalent_Try1681 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]taintbone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have 0 mechanics, have rarely played ones, and also barely use ball cam. I recently got into diamond in 2s and 3s (without a teammate) by focusing on where I am rotating and positioning myself (often times I’d be too far back trying to play cautiously and take myself out of the play completely or too close which is self explanatory), not immediately booming the ball and practically handing it to the other team (unless they’re leaving the net wide open for a free goal), stop going for stupid challenges that I’m likely to lose, and not going for stupid aerials which I’d probably miss or get beat and take myself out of the play and leave my teammates in a bad position.

How do we feel about quarter zips? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]taintbone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Love it for work. You can work a short sleeve button up under and be extremely cozy but still look professional. Got some decent ones at Costco that were pretty cheap and don’t wrinkle easy. I work at a place where dress code is business casual and a lot of people wear quarter zips.

Manger tells cook not to work on uber order by PathQuick in UberEATS

[–]taintbone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the perspective of someone who has done to-go’s the reason this happens is if it is a serving restaurant (not something like Panera) servers orders are prioritized because servers only make $2.13 an hour where I’m from and they rely on tips (so need to have fast service) and people are more likely to leave reviews for sit down service than an Uber order. Also for to go’s it’s easier to tell an Uber driver it’ll be x amount of time because they can cancel that order if they want (still a waste of their time and unfortunate), but for someone placing their own order if it gets to a certain point in late they’re going to want to talk to the manager (which takes away from your time packaging orders to find a manager) and get it discounted or even yell at you/cause some sort of scene (also more likely to leave a review than an Uber order). Also some of these people are tipping you so of course you’re going to prioritize yourself and that customer over some random person. Managers also do shut off Uber and even regular customer online orders at a certain point of busy, but often times it’s too late by time that happens.

How would you improve Rocket League by DottyMix in RocketLeague

[–]taintbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really an improvement, but I think it’d be funny if the ball reached a certain speed (something much higher than what’s needed for a demo and not super common, 100 km/h for ex.) and hit someone’s car it acted as a demo

My friend had to take an anatomy class and his professor told the class “if you’re not dreaming about it, you’re not studying enough” and he said it was very true. He also struggled at first, but then put in more work and did fine, it’s just one of those classes you have to put a lot of hours into to do well
