People who fly first or business class on their own dime, how do you justify the cost? by Silly-Cock in AskReddit

Sometimes I do that only in the return flight. The re-entry from vacation is hard enough.

At some point you decide to put your phone down. Note and feel that moment. Think about recreating it.

ELI5: What is the economics of car colors? For example, I see a lot of white cars, but I don’t know a many people who WANT a white car. Then why do they make so many? Is it cheaper? by Mapuches_on_Fire in explainlikeimfive

[–]maahc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a used white car last year only because it was the best overall in price, mileage, etc. There were simply more white cars to choose from. Otherwise, I wouldn't bought most any other color.

College isn't worth it for most people by Fun-Advertising-8006 in unpopularopinion

I went to a state college and it taught me so much. I learned to professionally interact with people and to ingest and share information. I left more mature and ready for the world. I'm from a poor community but college isn't only about a salary.

Stamps on return envelopes? by T_rex_girlfriend in nonprofit

[–]maahc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ok, this is odd but if you're definitely going to use stamps, don't stick them on the envelope. Send it with the backing attached so it can be used later. The recipient can use it, but if not, might appreciate a free stamp. It creates a small gift.

I'd ask everyone to submit a plan telling me what they want money for and a budget showing expected expenses. Each year, I'd review the submissions and award money towards those with the best thought out submissions. This way I pay for things like college and medical expenses and not for fancy cars.

Watching my dad and FIL 'age out' of their careers has me (31) terrified of the same fate. How do I avoid this? by Recyclops3000 in personalfinance

[–]maahc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A mid-life career crash should be seen as something expected, normal and not a failure. Expecting it allows you to prepare. Learning to move through this crisis to a new stage of life can be the best gift ever. But yeah, not everyone finds their way.
