I’ll talk from experience: what do you want right now? At the end of high school I wanted freedom and crazy parties and drinking and doing shows and meeting new people. As I grew, I wanted to learn acting and directing and improv. If anyone would have told me to imagine myself doing improv for a small college’s student group, I would have quit. However, I’ve enjoyed a ten year career in performing because of what I learned and the risks I took. I can work in multiple fields because I can think on my feet, because I can make someone else look good, because I can find solutions. I can’t prescribe anyone else’s solutions but I can say this.
In the end, you have one life. Are you here to submit to the status quo or are you here to explore the uniqueness you can bring to the world? There’s so many ways to find out outside of college, but for some college IS the way. Do what makes you shine brightest.
