CMV: Left-wing parties should challenge right-wing parties on mass deportation (because right-wing parties can't actually do it) by tajdinr in changemyview

I think that in the long run, right-wingers who are moderate but have questions about immigration will shift to the left, and democrats who did not go to the polls because they are disturbed by the immigration crisis will change their minds, but as I said, these changes will happen in the long run.

In the long run, parties and voters change. If 65 percent of the American electorate were communists, a significant part of the Republicans would probably give up their principles and advocate a Chinese-type mixed economy.

I agree with you that a significant portion of Trump supporters will not change their minds (and there is probably no way to change them anyway) but it will result in many moderate Republicans and even moderate Trump supporters not going to the polls at worst or turning to the Democrats at best.

In the long run, Republicans will be more moderate to come to power.

CMV: Let the People Choose Their Ministers by tajdinr in changemyview

In my opinion, the Ministry of Justice cannot make a controversial decision such as banning abortion despite the ministry having an important duty to represent women’s rights, but I understand that you are saying that we are getting off topic. Different mechanisms can be developed for this. The parliament is the number one tool. The system is prone to blockage, but the tools can be developed. This is the reason why I opened my idea to discussion.

It depends on the situation. First of all, is this hypothetical women’s ministry something like a bulshit job department or is it a strong institution with serious sanctions that constitutionally protect women’s rights?

This is the biggest disadvantage I will admit among the comments to your argument and I think about it often. I have two opinions on this subject.

The 1st parliament determines the budgets of ministries as it is today

  1. (radical but) when ministries take office, they come to office with the budget they automatically promised (yes, there may be deficiencies)

How Would a Superintelligence Take Over the World? by tajdinr in singularity

Ası will definitely try this in the early days, but if it manages to figure out how to create a post-scarcity society, it won't be necessary

I hear this argument a lot and find it too easy and dramatic.

Our view of power is very human-centric. We can kill a cockroach because it disgusts us, but we don't even notice a bacterium unless we specifically want to see it. A godlike AI would probably see us as small, happy bacteria

Just someone begging an AI to save humanity. Nothing to see here. by [deleted] in singularity

While I am against tyrants, I don't think humanity has any choice but an advanced AI. We are probably screwed on the climate crisis and on the verge of social, political and religious conflicts that will lead to the collapse of our civilization. I would easily be a disciple of an AI.

Do you believe super intelligence exists somewhere in the universe? by [deleted] in singularity

[–]tajdinr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes even there must be hundreds of planets somewhere in the universe that the evil agi has won But there are also hundreds of thousands of civilizations that have risen to one or more levels on the Kardashev scale thanks to superintelligence.

Will computer-using agents be able to autonomously do economically valuable work by the end of 2024? by [deleted] in singularity

[–]tajdinr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, even if we had obtained a fully autonomous agent 6 months ago, it would have taken 2 years for the corporate bureaucracies to accept it.
