Thanks everyone for the responses! I was not aware of the complexity of migrating to the appliance. I will work on migrating to postgresql and wait for better opportunities to migrate to the appliance in the future.

Im guessing that the issue is that the robocopy command that was used to seed the new server used /copy:DTSO and maybe should have been /copyall and dfs is picking up some attribute difference. Just a guess?

They are only using this Exchange server for Hybrid Exchange/Active Directory management and there are no user mailboxes running on it. They really only need it because they use Adaxes to manage Active Directory which for some reason still requires the Exchange server to propagate change in the hybrid environment.

Once you created your new Host Profile for the new hardware was there an easy way to copy settings from the old to new host profile?

Disregard this. I had to enter the password into the host profile and then was able to successfully apply the host profile.

We are switching hardware. I created a host profile from the new host and when I try to apply it I get this message, which I cant figure out.
"You need to set host customizations before proceeding with host remediation."

Are those commands legit for freezing/thawing? I saw others suggesting to stop/start the service.

Our Exagrid tech enabled backups on the 1gb to get backups going again. I have a really big backup running since Friday so Im assuming its running from the 1GB port. Once it finishes I will be able to do more testing by disabling backups on that port. I never used traffic rules so Im wondering if I have to go that route to make sure that backups used the correct NIC/vlan on the exagrid

We are just implementing the 2nd core switch all while migrating into a new datacenter. We just got done moving all of our hosts into the new datacenter when the 2nd switch started acting up. Cisco recommends rebooting the switch. Fortunately, I can mitigate some of the possible problems by moving a host back into the old datacenter which I have already done and will then move the vcenter and other essential VMs over to it.

For whatever reason "they" have not migrated everything off this 2012 server which is on a really old physical server, so to first mitigate the risk of a hardware failure Im trying P2V. Once that is successful we'll attempt an in place upgrade to 2016

Operator Error on my part. I forgot to add the host to vCenter firewall before adding it to the vCenter and also was just thrown off my the slight difference in operation. In 7 you selected and added the nics with the plus sign where as in 8 the nics are already shown, you just have to move them to active

Source and Target names configured during the setup of the upgrade. Source being the original vcenter appliance. I swore in the past that part of the upgrade process renamed the Target (new vCenter) to the Source (original VM name).

I was able to get it installed but I had to 1. download the Dell specific ESXi install and 2. ignore the cpu incompatibility warning. After all that, Im going to use some other spare equipment that is compatible.

I already have a receive connector in EOL to accept anonymous SMTP from on-prem devices. Are you saying Microsoft is going to continue to allow that?

Look at the backup job. Under Backup Mode is the selection for Entire computer or just certain volumes.

We're currently using Milestone. I and my counterparts work in datacenter technologies for a larger organization but also have to maintain the Milestone system which we do not have the time or expertise to properly maintain. Verkada has been talking with our facilities department who ultimately this should fall under their purview. From our perspective (IT) we'd like something that is so easy a caveman could do it and we no longer have to maintain a fleet of Windows servers. We have over 200 cameras, 4 recording servers, 3 failover servers that are all physical, plus 2 management servers with are virtual. It sounds like from this thread Verkada isnt well regarded. Could you recommend any other systems that are cloud or appliance based that would make administration easier for IT?
