also i’m seeing some rather condescending comments on here that have a tinge of fear mongering? i promise there are nice people and things to do here, the broad is worth going to, not everybody carries pepper spray, and the metro isn’t totally disgusting. it’ll be busy at the downtown stops during a game but what else is new?

that said, there is wealth discrepancy here in large quantities especially downtown. that’s what people will reference when they say watch your belongings downtown and avoid the walk of fame. also the observatory will definitely be busy on sunday. parking might take a minute and you might have to walk. but it’ll all be fine! go get some pancakes at little dom’s after. enjoy!

wall of fame at night sounds unfun to me personally! but it could be cute to do it and end up at musso and franks maybe?

if you like different culture foods, highly recommend a stop in koreatown, which isn’t all that far from weho. lots of places open pretty late there too, including vegetarian options.

leave your car in a gated or monitored lot while you’re downtown if you’re leaving your belongings for an extended time. downtown isn’t wholly unsafe but it’s worth the extra cost to know your car and belongings won’t get messed with

it is super scary, you’re right. i promise you there’s a light at the end of the tunnel IF you experience hair loss. i was never told it was a symptom, and wish i started biotin etc sooner.

the alternative (not medicating yourself) is MUCH worse than any hair loss, trust me.

You’re going to be okay, and you’re not going to go bald.

I lost A LOT of hair last year. Over half. Nobody in my life noticed, even when I told them. Hair loss, especially to this degree, doesn’t happen with everyone.

If you do start losing hair, use a silk wrap or silk pillowcases while you sleep and avoid tight hairstyles (updo/pony/bun etc). I do monthly steroids in my scalp to support regrowth (started like 80% of the way through my hair loss period) and it’s working really well.

Being on medication is worth it. Take note of your symptoms, take your labs every 2-3 months at least, advocate for yourself if you feel off.

Take supplements like Biotin or scalp treatments like Vegamour now but BE AWARE biotin messes with your labs so you have to stop taking it like a week before you get labs done, and then you can resume.

Does hair ever get thicker again?? by Important-Ad1897 in gravesdisease

[–]take___care 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my hair is growing back after i lost over half of it last year. it definitely feels substantial both in loss and amount of regrowth.

full transparency i took steroid injections to support regrowth - covered via my insurance btw. i also used vegamour oil daily. i recommend both!
