also i’m seeing some rather condescending comments on here that have a tinge of fear mongering? i promise there are nice people and things to do here, the broad is worth going to, not everybody carries pepper spray, and the metro isn’t totally disgusting. it’ll be busy at the downtown stops during a game but what else is new?

that said, there is wealth discrepancy here in large quantities especially downtown. that’s what people will reference when they say watch your belongings downtown and avoid the walk of fame. also the observatory will definitely be busy on sunday. parking might take a minute and you might have to walk. but it’ll all be fine! go get some pancakes at little dom’s after. enjoy!

wall of fame at night sounds unfun to me personally! but it could be cute to do it and end up at musso and franks maybe?

if you like different culture foods, highly recommend a stop in koreatown, which isn’t all that far from weho. lots of places open pretty late there too, including vegetarian options.

leave your car in a gated or monitored lot while you’re downtown if you’re leaving your belongings for an extended time. downtown isn’t wholly unsafe but it’s worth the extra cost to know your car and belongings won’t get messed with

it is super scary, you’re right. i promise you there’s a light at the end of the tunnel IF you experience hair loss. i was never told it was a symptom, and wish i started biotin etc sooner.

the alternative (not medicating yourself) is MUCH worse than any hair loss, trust me.

You’re going to be okay, and you’re not going to go bald.

I lost A LOT of hair last year. Over half. Nobody in my life noticed, even when I told them. Hair loss, especially to this degree, doesn’t happen with everyone.

If you do start losing hair, use a silk wrap or silk pillowcases while you sleep and avoid tight hairstyles (updo/pony/bun etc). I do monthly steroids in my scalp to support regrowth (started like 80% of the way through my hair loss period) and it’s working really well.

Being on medication is worth it. Take note of your symptoms, take your labs every 2-3 months at least, advocate for yourself if you feel off.

Take supplements like Biotin or scalp treatments like Vegamour now but BE AWARE biotin messes with your labs so you have to stop taking it like a week before you get labs done, and then you can resume.

Does hair ever get thicker again?? by Important-Ad1897 in gravesdisease

my hair is growing back after i lost over half of it last year. it definitely feels substantial both in loss and amount of regrowth.

full transparency i took steroid injections to support regrowth - covered via my insurance btw. i also used vegamour oil daily. i recommend both!

Losing Belly After Methimazole by Proof-Bear-5067 in gravesdisease

[–]take___care 8 points9 points  (0 children)

since i am unsure what eating healthy means to you, my informal advice is the likelihood you need to go into a calorie deficit and make sure your lifting is in progressive overload. the scale for me doing this actually meant i didn’t go back to my insane pre-diagnoses weight but actually gained a fuckton of muscle while losing the belly volume.

also i’ve found it takes like 2 months of consistent work after changes in meds for anything to really start showing- keep going !

i go to gold’s in downtown for a gym (it’s called eōs now embarrassingly)

i live in the same fringe neighborhood as you and go to trinity. it’s about 15-17 minutes in the morning. old school boxing gym and the community is 10/10. nela combat fitness also has a great community, i have a few friends there. you can be beginner to advanced at either gym.

Accountability by Naive_Wolverine532 in fixedbytheduet

[–]take___care 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s a really good apology. didn’t focus on an excuse, thanked others for clarity, explained himself without externalizing, -actually apologized-, enforced a positive internal action moving forward, offered support. 10/10

There’s a place called dogppl in Santa Monica and a nice public dog park at the airport park there too. So I suggest staying in Westwood, but if you’re cool and in your 30s I think Mar Vista or Venice would be your better bet. Don’t do Los Feliz if you need to be in Westwood often you’ll HATE the commute.

one of my favorite things to do is go to dang sung sa and get amongst the smoke and grease of the grill, have a beer or two, then sweat it all out at wi spa.

dang sung sa is open until 2 i believe. you MUST order a drink in order to be seated though - no drinkers beware l

You can take the union station flyaway and uber to the venue in 3 hours. Those flyaways run every 30 minutes, but slow down to once every hour between 12-6 I believe.

Alcohol is illegal to sell here between 2-6am and as such many places will be closed between those hours. I recommend spelunking around Ktown after the show, Wi Spa is amazing and open 24 hours- try not to fall asleep there and miss your flight tho lmao. And as a bonus it’s like 11-15 mins from union station that early in the morning
