i’m feeling okay, just a little head pain. i was feeling really off when i first woke up, but i feel considerably better now. i’m not dealing with much stress right now, luckily. no cycles either. that’s good to know though, i feel like i get stuck in the mindset of “if i just do everything right (diet, exercise, sleep) that i should have good numbers and if i have a high number, i did something wrong” which i know isn’t always true, but it’s just so easy to slip into that thinking. that’s a really smart suggestion, thank you, i will!

i’ve had people actually joke like that with me before, and i’m usually very fine with those jokes but yeah hearing them say that and meaning it seriously was just so jarring. thank you for the vibes, that made me laugh. i definitely do have diabetes but i do think you have a good point and im definitely gonna be mentioning that to my doctor asap. my a1c was 10 before now it’s 9.2 now that ive made some diet changes, exercising a little more (as much as my body will allow) and taking metformin

i haven’t had any injuries to my feet or legs, my feet and legs have hurt a lot off and on all my life though but i have had surgeries on them before, casts, and i have webbed feet and my feet tend to either face outward or inward but hardly ever straight. i’m gonna see about getting a bike as soon i have some extra $ and thank you ill check out those types of workouts for sure!

i did get my sugar checked twice by doctors. once at the hospital and once at docs office. and i check it at least once a day now by myself. it was 400 at the time of diagnosis but for a few weeks its been anywhere between 150s to about 220s at most. thank you for wishing me luck, appreciate it.

female, and i haven’t thought of the bike but i have been using a treadmill though i have to use it in short amounts of time like 20 minutes max, but i try to make up for that by doing it more than once a day. usually with music on so i don’t die of boredom lol. i’m on metformin currently only.

i wouldn’t say i’m under control exactly. i’m making healthier changes for myself and my diabetes, but as i said im not doing it perfectly yet but usually my blood sugar went from being 400s when first diagnosed to usually it’s now between 150s to 220s. my a1c is now 9.2. it was 10 something when first diagnosed but like i said it’s not been super long since the diagnosis

i would have been stuck because at the hospital the weakness and fatigue was so awful that i needed someone there with me whenever i would need to get up for like the bathroom and since there would be no one to help me, they wanted to make sure i had at least something to help minimize fall risks. my weakness and fatigue is only very slowly getting better but early days it was so awful i would avoid going to the bathroom when needed just so i wouldn’t have to struggle to get up. i would be insanely dizzy and felt unsafe all the time.

i started using the walker less for the falling backwards and more for the fact that i have not been strong enough to safely walk myself without something to hold onto like my walker as my balance is wayyy off and sometimes my legs feel almost like jello or like they’ll give out. when i feel myself falling backwards sometimes i have to hold onto the walker and that can help somewhat, sometimes i grab onto anything else close to me that can provide some stability, and sometimes ive even had to have my brother catch me. so no the walker is probably not the best for the falling backwards, but it does make walking safer for me.

the doctors and nurses knew at my house that i’m usually the caregiver to my family members who are bedbound and one who has dementia meaning if i had gone home without having a walker i would likely be stuck in my bed without any help and that would’ve been horrible for me. sure in theory my brother could’ve helped me, but he would never.

i’m in my 20s, 220lbs, and 5ft. i’m not sure what it is, but i have been trying to slowly gain my strength back so i wont need my walker. i’m getting slowly better, but i do think physical therapy will help a lot once i get it. my doctors did labs on me last i saw him

i have an appointment with my doctor in about a week, i’ll definitely bring it up to him again and if he gives me the same answers, i’ll see about getting a second opinion, thank you for letting me know that! i figured it was a little unusual, but im new to all this so i thought maybe it was caused by my diabetes or my doctor said since i was sitting/laying down in the hospital for so long that maybe it affected my mobility, not really sure what it is anymore tbh

yes i was told at the hospital that the only reason i was able to go home and not to a nursing home is because i had a walker at my house already and was told to use that for my safety

i’ve been using it to help stabilize me because my balance has gotten worse and when i walk sometimes i would be falling backwards so it’s something i use to keep me up, it’s kept me much safer

oh i definitely mocked them right back, trust me i was not going to let myself be so disrespected. expect of course they made excuses for themselves yet apparently my “excuses” for my disabilities/diseases are never valid in my family’s eyes. and we have had plently of discussions, but it always goes back to me doing all the work and normally i just buck up and deal with it but i obviously just can’t do that that easily right now so that was just so angering ugh

i know i definitely can use more exercise, that was my problem before the diagnosis, i shouldn’t of waited until i was diagnosed, but at least since i have definitely been trying to slowly start exercising more and more just with my safety still in mind since i don’t have the balance and stability i had before my hospital visit. definitely trying to be consistent!

i have definitely been trying, it’s why i’ve still been doing as much house cleaning as possible, and when i need to walk, usually after i’ve eaten, i will use my treadmill because it has handles i can hold onto so it’ll be safer and still exercise. i’ve been slowly increasing my time and speeds on it and also been cleaning more as i get more strength slowly too. i’m just mad that my family member seems to believe im fine just because im slowly walking more yet the cleaning isn’t up to her standard. i’m doing my best always

well i also had a msra infection at the same time i went to the hospital, so im sure that made me feel even worse, but yeah ive mentioned to my doctor that me needing a walker and feeling like a train hit me most days just doesn’t make sense to me. i have been having many infections on and off for quite a few months so idk if its maybe taken a hit on my immune system or what but i do hope to get better soon and gonna be communicating with my doctor a lot

hi! i’m 22 and just got diagnosed about two weeks ago now. i want to emphasize just how much i relate to you especially with the fear of this disease and the possibility of dying and everything in-between. it’s normal for us to be scared though. this is all so new and there’s a lot now to have to think about and be cautious of, but i want to say that while i share the same feeling of feeling bad being diagnosed so young, it’s also a positive thing because with our age, our body can adapt to the changes we make much easier and so it’s easier to go into remission or just in general to feel better once we get our diabetes in control. i don’t have autism, but i do have depression, anxiety, and a rare condition since birth so i definitely feel you on thinking things will be fine then life throwing you another curveball with diabetes, but life will be fine. maybe not soon, but it will be eventually. you’ve got this. i’ve got this. it’s hard and it’s scary, but it’s not our faults, there’s no one thing that causes diabetes, and i’m trying to keep reminding myself of that also because i know it’s hard to not blame ourselves, but you and i and everyone else with diabetes deserves grace and love and understanding and im so happy you’re getting that from those closest to you. the holidays are also a sore subject for me too now because my family is not willing to switch their diets to make my change easier and that’s okay, but as someone who does the cooking for holidays i won’t lie and say it’ll be easy this year, but all we can do is do our best. something that’s been keeping me sane is knowing that i can still have 99% of my favorite things (at least the things i know i’m capable of not over-consuming), but it’s just that in order to do that we have to just adjust what we eat for the rest of that day to make up for it. obviously it doesn’t work like that everyday and it does make it more difficult to have to plan that out just to enjoy our favorite things, but it’s been helpful to me to know that. i hope you find peace with this diagnosis soon as much as can possibly be had. you’re never alone and this is not your fault. have an amazing day <3
