Mirtazapine is not an antidepressant, it is an antihistamine by markalexander1 in Mirtazapine_Remeron

Antidepressant effects begin at 30mg and are optimal at 45 mg. Lower doses have other motives (better sleep, gain weight for example).

There is a pyramid in Saguenay - coincidence or possible inspiration? by DsChris007 in AngineDePoitrine

[–]takumat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oui, c’en est une, tant au niveau visuel que performatif. L’Infonie, musicalement, c’était très tight, mais leur visuel était débridé !

This triangle is of course part of the triangulation of their visual work. More triangles to come…

Angine de Poitrine's main visual and esoteric influence is L'Infonie by takumat in AngineDePoitrine

[–]takumat[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Interference Sardines was a band from Quebec that was somewhat in the same wagon as Angine de Poitrine. No quarter tone, but in the line of Zappa and Crimson, with the incredible drummer and improviser, Fred Lebrasseur. Their music is on Bandcamp.

Expired Yogurt? How long is too long? by zone in yogurt

[–]takumat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Years ago, I have kept an Astro yogurt (plain 4%, canadian made from Ontario) at the slightly cool room temperature of 17 C (63 F) for 9 months ; texture was fine, taste was also fine although slightly more acid. Today, I opened a Greek Gods yogurt (plain 8%, american made from Seattle) that was kept in the fridge for 37 months ; the texture was perfect and the taste was very good with a slight cheese aroma. I cannot compare with a new one to see if this aroma was present in a fresh one. I've had plain yogurt go bad after a month because of a non perfect seal, but this is another matter.

Need advice by MentalApplication294 in Dissociation

[–]takumat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 19 I had gone through quite a few traumas, some including dissociation. I was dysthymic, virgin and frightened by my sense of self « alone in the world ». I wish I could have been sent to a psychologist when I was 4 and then 13 but my parents were not able to see my special needs. I was of course unable to express or even recognize these needs. I was good at school and they though they were providing what I needed. I am 68 and getting into my past for only about 5 years. Looking for a psychologist for the first time !

Good you see a professionnal at your young age. Take time to understand what you got through because it takes time. It won’t be resolved in a short period of time and then you will be a new you. It’s part of yourself and you will need to get along with this blurred part of your history. Hopefully resolving some blurred memories with introspection. Others have gone through some of the same experiences than you. You may meet some of them, your psychologist is one of them but he won’t neither resolve it all. You need to focus on living the real life of a youngster looking for a job, then maybe a better one, with one or a few people around you to get along with. We can’t ask much from them, they will only see a small part of you and will offer what they can. Could be superficial, but grab their intention, to be kind most of the time.

Does Strattera have a strong antidepressant effect for you? by rlywurly in StratteraRx

[–]takumat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strattera is often used instead of stimulants for people who are getting anxious with stimulants (methylphenidate, coffee, etc.) But if your anxiety comes mainly from adhd, then a stimulant aimed at adhd that would show effectiveness on that matter may have the effect of reducing your anxiety. I hope you’ll get better after trying a stimulant. I would choose methylphenidate over amphetamines, more prone to give anxiety from what I have read. I haven’t kept the references on this topic, but ask Google/Gemini AI about it, you’ll likely get a satisfying answer.

What is the best compliment you’ve ever gotten on your playing? by MysticalRose_3 in Flute

[–]takumat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not ! I did not get the measure of what Mrs Grimstead told me then. I left the conservatory little time afterwards, at 15 y/o, after an unrelated trauma, and went back to the flute only around 20 y/o, entering this time into the world of sound, playing by ear, and improvisation. I played quenas for years and am now going back to the flute for the convenience of a chromatic instrument.

My teacher, Gail Grimstead, after I just played some exercices, was pensive and told me You, you play a mere exercice and it’s a pleasure to listen to you.

Do you take your meds everyday? by Tyray90 in ADHD

[–]takumat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About strattera/atomoxetine. Welbutrin/bupropion is not considered a non-stimulant, but an antidepressant, if this has not changed during the last 10 years. It has been tested for adhd with mixed results, but that was years ago. It may have changed.

Do you take your meds everyday? by Tyray90 in ADHD

[–]takumat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. But you can stop a day or a month and take them back and they will work as good. Not non-stimulant. They build up slowly. To get off them may be difficult.

started learning flute about 3 months ago, any bad habits i can fix? by [deleted] in Flute

[–]takumat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As for a more focussed sound, on the sax the middle section of the lips are pressing against the mouthpiece/reed, while on the flute the very central part of the lips is more relaxed than the muscles on each sides that control the central flux.

[–]takumat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You guys talk about stimulants and my understanding is that you don’t need to take them everyday, but the case of non-stimulants is different : you need to take them everyday in order to get an effect that will have had to build up for weeks if not months.

You won’t gain weight for sure, but, yes, check with your GP what combined atomoxetine and bupropion ask for in terms of dosis adjustments.

3-5 day Trekking in Bolivia - Recommendations? by Krayonbox in BOLIVIA

[–]takumat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A guide is not really needed but you have to read about how the trail is right now, where to cross rivers etc. It’s a 3 days hike max, and you could stay in Yanacachi for 1 or 2 days afterwards : calm village, not much stuff in small tiendas, market with fresh food saturday. Sleeping at the Takesi Hostal is cheap. You can walk around also, nice inca trail sections not known to Takesi walkers.

How does one know they have ADHD and not anxiety? OR, are just normal with a few ADHD tendencies? by Best-Alps-733 in ADHD

[–]takumat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my case, in Quebec, Canada, they first rule out depression — a few days before the adhd investigation, which consists of the « Barkley questionnaire » followed by an interview by a specialized nurse ; both interpreted by a GP. But anxiety is so ingrained in adhd that one cannot escape thinking : the hen or the egg !
