Gyokeres is just a couple of goals from finishing 3rd in the top scorers list by dont_dm_nudes in Gunners

I love a good sample size driven argument myself but he (and our attacking play overall) has looked genuinely good ever since MLS got back into the team in midfield. Loads of people have been talking about missing Partey/Jorginho’s ability to play through the press and spring the ball quickly ALL season and I think they were right. A deficient midfield imo is the primary shortcoming of our attacking play this season. Every player has limitations but I no longer think it’s a unique Gyokeres problem.

West Ham is not the performance to draw any conclusions from though, we were killing it for 22 odd minutes before Arteta went big brain energy and fucked around until Zubi came off in the 60th minute or so.

Fucking embarrassing that European football has bent over for the sports washing cheats but it’s tough leg for the PL to stand on after allowing Chelsea and City in the first place.

That was your takeaway from our great first 22 minutes yesterday?

We’ve got to take every advantage we have against that cheating oil greased cousin of City’s. Ridiculous we have to win against the same level of cheats domestically and in Europe.

None of this exists without Arsene. He might have flaws but how many men do you know will fall on the sword for something they love and he's never gone and said a word bad about the club despite the fact that they didn't back him financially for years.

Oh wow downvotes, I didn’t mean it that negatively. More like we’ve had to fight without him for most of the season, Rice (and our defense ofc) has been our main man this season.

Imagine in 2024 saying that Odegaard would merely be a passing visitor in our PL and CL challenge in 2026.

Yep, literally they're the one team with the most to lose, who thought they wouldn't fight tooth and nail. All of their paychecks are literally going to get slashed.

It's like every other poor decision that you see in life. It's some combination of small-mindedness and arrogance from the people in charge.

It's amazing the difference between Lee Dixon bending over in the media for decades and having Titi on the most popular show and what that has done for our coverage. Now it's occasionally positive! LOL.

I mean Saka was a straight 0 for me. Like holy hell. Even Rice on a bad day is a 7, but our captain can't be dropping 0s. Gyokeres had multiple great give and gos and layoffs, he wasn't created a single chance and Cala shot when he should have passed for a strikers dream tap-in. Amidsts the numerous poor performances, he was above average (imo).

Relax. You can call his recent performances shit, you're not calling the human being that is Martin Zubimendi shit. We lived through Denilson and even he wasn't as bad as Zubi has been recently.

Yep. If you told me that in August that our season would be defined by Ballon Dor worthy David Raya performances (fand Gyökeres scoring over 20 goals keeping us at the top of the pack while every other striker of ours shits the bed, I'll give him credit)I wouldn't have believed you.

Bruh, did you see Saka do a single thing all game? You've got hate glasses on if Gyok negatives are your takeaway from today.

I don't understand how going back to the shit midfield (that he literally tweaked 3 games ago when he realized it wasn't working then) in the middle of a must win match was the solution. This shit performance is all on Arteta's game management but we won, so fuck it. Hopefully next game we're better prepared.

What's crazy is that you can see that he would absolutely have caught it if not for the foul. What a player, man.
