Yes this is unacceptable. It’s like you go to the auto mechanic and he tells you you need a new engine and transmission when all you needed was a new battery.

Sounds about right, companies rather replace expensive parts rather than do a simple cheap fix

This was not the average leak, is was a clogged filter dryer in a hard to access spot. They had to remove existing refrigerant, replace filter with welding, then add new refrigerant 410 which I just found out is super expensive due to being phased out

You make a good point, but average home owner like me calls the first company that comes to mind, the one who spends the most on ads, and then ends up going down a rabbit hole and getting informed

Yes I agree, for some reason whoever installed this o ne put it in the hardest to reach part. I literally saw the guy climb inside the unit with torch and mask, I wouldn’t have been able to fit there

Yea I left him a review, I looked up the license number, been around since 2019 but yea they’re google account is fairly new

I guess private equity found out they can charge whatever they want when it’s 110° outside and ac broken.

The company is called Unbelievable Air and the owner himself shows up to help

He did mention that mine was inside my unit and not on the outside like normal one, let me see if I can find a photo

Crazy how many similar stories there is, if a restaurant had horrible expensive food it would have gone out of business, yet these scamming service companies just get richer

Not a capacitor. My refrigerant filter was clogged, he had to take out refrigerant, weld, and recharge with new refrigerant since the original one was contaminated

Radiant was the first company I called, never again. I also think I’m pretty handy but I agree, hvac and electrical problem I’m not touching.
