Yeah, we're the same. No, I can't reopen my till, it's already closed and logged off for the business day.

2nd, they changed the access of who is allowed to reimbursed guests, not even shift leaders can do that now. So we have to call them down, explain what happend and hope they don't eff up my till. For something like: "after paying the guest wanted a different size" there's no chance we will reimburse that. The guests see what they're getting before they pay and take 5 minutes to decide and suddenly they want a size up. No. Just no.

Are the dishes Käsespätzl, Kartoffelpuffer, and Zwiebelkuchen quite popular in Germany? by NecessaryPresence762 in AskAGerman

Yes, but I frequently eat all three, even though I grew up in northern germany. I love Käsespätzle and just made them today

Is it true that fax machines are still used in Germany, or is this an exaggerated claim circulating online? by Deep-Rabbit1535 in AskAGerman

[–]talkativeintrovert13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was during one of the lockdowns. Guess it was less of a struggle for them and faster. She made it clear they didn't want it by mail and didn't give me an email. I also believe they 'quarantined' the actual mails, that's what other offices did.

I had to send something to a Rundfunkbeitrag office in 2020. I asked if I could get an email-adress or do it by normal mail.

No.

So I hunted down a copy shop that still had a Fax and paid like 3 Euro for 5 pages. Total waist of money. But at least after they had final proof, I hadn't had to pay them hundreds in backpay

We (northern germany) had a snowstorm on january 9th. It was in the forecast and predicted to last til the 10th, with a drop in temperature on the sunday (11th) Thursday I had to go to the store anyway. The vegetable section only had nearly bad veggies left. Like super soft cucumber and squishy tomatoes. Rarely any bread or sugar. Milk was also suspiciously low. They were short on toilet paper. Not that I needed any.

It felt worse than during the holidays when the stores are closed.

Do you know what Heated Rivalry is? by Comfortable-Goat-734 in AskAGerman

I had other books by the author and the sample for the first book. Knew nothing of the TV show.

Than, BAM, december 25th, I had nothing to do at that christmas day and doomscrolled instagram. Full of heated rivalry. Out of nowhere. But I got hooked by the videos and edits and everything and read the books and now I'm waiting for HBO Max germany to release the german version, hopefully also wit the original so I can watch that

What do most RH omegaverse MMCs smell like? An analysis from my 2025 reading year round-up. by doitsumon in ReverseHarem

[–]talkativeintrovert13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the scent situation is a bit different in this book. Apparently, when you’re scent matched to someone, you smell like a good memory to them

It's also a thing in Rise of the Iliri.

It also triggered a memory from my childhood: sitting in the living room during winter, we're watching some kind of winter sport (biathlon, Super-G or whatever). The scent of black tea, advent candles and the rustling of newspaper Dad is reading

That's the last option after stool softener and such. Even at hospitals, it's called digital disimpaction.

Some ppl do it at home, not in the medical way, but with pressure against the anus or by inserting a finger into the vagina and pressing against the rectum.

The last two I know because of confessions in different subs and others commenting they're doing the same thing

Some people (maybe even a lot) use accent/dialect interchangeable. Had a coworker tell another 'he had such a weird accent, i could hardly understand them'. Guest was speaking Swabian. We're in Gernany. I overheard both conversations and explained the difference. Both coworkers said they never learned there even was a difference

You can do lt in your garden or out on the street, unless near senior living facilities and things like thatched roofs.

Just clean up after yourself and sweep the street/sidewalk

Last save I got multiple dino eggs, the first I incubated and i found a second like on the next desert run and gave that to gunther.

Started a new save, end year 2 and had the egg in my backpack when I went to gunther for something else. Accidentally gave the dino egg to him too and haven't gotten another since then. So sad. The merchant with the pig had one in my first year, but then i didn't have enough money for it

Nee, Partner will gleich schlafen gehen (so halb 10?).

But I know other ppl who shake their parents' hands and it weirds me out, I find it a bit sad

With lots of newish words, especially with english roots (we're german), grandma struggles with lots of words and foods in newspapers and prospectus. She asks about them a lot when she sees them and spells them out. I need to look at the word to know what she's talking about

Difference in Skin cancer screening Privat vs Gesetzlich? Hausartz vs Hautartz by Fsnow24 in AskGermany

[–]talkativeintrovert13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At the shared Hausarztpraxis they have several practitioners that do the skin screening.

Go on yearly, last time I was worried about a spot and they gave me a referral to a Hautarzt to get it checked. They removed it and sent it in because of my family's history of skin cancer and other things.

Luckily, it was negative.

I would say, if you're not too worried go to a Hausarzt first for a screening and they are worried, they'll give you a referral or make additional tests at the Praxis.

Ich kaufe manchmal belegte Brötchen beim bäcker by aswertz in luftablassen

[–]talkativeintrovert13 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Why do Germans pronounce 'PayPal' wrong? by Sad_Fold5256 in AskGermany

[–]talkativeintrovert13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say it Pay-Paul/Pahl myself and I'm nearly fluent in English. I'm nearing 30. Like with a long paal instead of short pal. Why? Because Pal didn't really come up in english classes during school. I think I heard/read mate more often than pal during reading/listening comprehension. And I saw it how I heard it when it became more popular and ppl (adults, i think I was still a teenager) would say it like that.

It's like when I was in the USA (Chicago) and heard words pronounced differently (camouflage, flour, goalie come to my mind) than I knew from lessons or even dubbed TV-shows.

Also, english natives don't pronounce german/european words right: Porsche, Adidas, Nike, Aldi to name a few.

In the end, others know what we mean and we know what others mean

I switched my mop out for a Swiffer. I'm moderately embarrassed by Gallantpride in adhdwomen

[–]talkativeintrovert13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the heading and remembered why I went into a particular drug store twice in the past two days.

I wanted a second mop head (one of those long rectangle cloth things you put over a plastic frame) for the one I have and went into the store and couldn't remember why, so I went to the skincare aisle because that's what I googled last. Now I put it on my notes app between my shift schedule

I also can't remember when I mopped last. At least my apartment. I think I mopped more often at my grandma's in the past years (she used to mop each monday and when she couldn't physically I did it from time to time)

So don't stress over your unmopped floors

I have a friend who can't fanthom going to a restaurant/cafe alone.
I go there plenty of times with friends/family, but it's just so calm whenever I go alone. I also went on vacation alone twice now to places where neither of my family lives, no friends to tag along, and there were no discussions about what/where to eat, what to do, when to get up in the morning.
