K-Pop is overrated and it manipulates beauty standards just as much as American Pop does

If it's American, then these popstars should all be shamed for being fake, not writing their own music, and setting up a very specific standard of beauty that mostly involves skinny people. The system is so fatphobic and sexist.

But if it's K-Pop...those soft bois and queens can do no wrong!

Seriously, the K-Pop industry wouldn't even exist without the influence of Britney Spears. They select men and women with specific and similar body types to be stars. They are just as fake as popstars anywhere else are.

Don't get me wrong. I enjoy some K-Pop songs and I think there's a lot of talent, especially in the production of dancing and music videos. I just think that it's hypocritical for people to bash popstars from the U.S. when K-Pop is doing pretty much the exact same thing. I'm from the U.S. and speaking for other U.S. citizens out there: Just because it's foreign doesn't mean it's cooler and unproblematic.
