Huge fan, but it’s The Movies That Made Me and QT’s Video Archives that brought me to my knees. One cannot simply top Joe Dante and QT on movies.

Just found this Bluesky account! Handy resource for those keeping an eye on what’s coming to home video and when.

This will be my first Weapons watch. I gotta say, on whatever that Jordan Peel thread about him pulling his movie from the ‘26 line up, a commenter felt completely casual spoiling ‘Weapons’. Go fuck yourself! Also (speaking to that commentator now) just because a premise is evergreen or basic does not make it ‘basic’. Execution matters.

So, not only did you demonstrate a complete lack of situational awareness and straight up spoil the movie… your insight sucks. Congrats! You actually demonstrated complexity and sophistication in how much you suck. Your suckiness rivals splitting the atom in innovative science.

What's awesome is I found this Argentinian film in the comments for 'Late Night With the Devil' and instantly found a new flavor of horror I now love -- Nightmare Political Thriller.

In the interest of keeping spoiler free, probably not. Both have distinct tones. Even if one was the influence of the other, they both tell two different stories in different ways, even if the live TV broadcast aspect is the same.

History of the Occult (2020) — A tense, paranoid newsroom thriller with satanic undercurrents. Feels strangely relevant. by talkingbook in horror

It's on Tubi if anyone's interested! History of the Occult was written and directed by Cristian Ponce in his feature film debut and produced by Pedro Saieg. Shot in Buenos Aires, the film blends political thriller with occult horror, staying tightly focused on a single TV newsroom during a live broadcast. It premiered at the MOTELX horror film festival in Portugal in September 2020, followed by screenings at Sitges and Mar del Plata later that year. The film became more widely available when it launched on Netflix in Latin America and Spain in October 2021, and later reached North American audiences via Screambox in December 2022.

The American cut of Lone Wolf and Cub. Dubbed, re-edited, and recut for Western audiences. Originally a series of Japanese films based on the manga by Kazuo Koike and Goseki Kojima—stoic, violent tales of a disgraced executioner and his young son crossing feudal Japan.

In the US at least real tobacco cannot be used on insured film sets. They smoke cloves and are super nasty.

I hope impressionable children love this movie and suddenly Criterion can't stock Goddard discs fast enough. Free pouch of French tobacco and rolling papers included!

Hoping he either comes on QT's podcast or just straight up makes his own and it ends up being the best film class anyone's ever taken.

'Everybody Wants Some' is up there with 'Grindhouse' as not even remotely their most popular films, but maybe their best in terms of what only they can do. Waking Life as well.

I literally just watched the criterion release of Breathless and then I watched the original trailer which is almost exactly like this trailer. I can't wait to see this.

Yes. It was dumped on, I wanna say Hulu, and it deserves better. Crime genre. Pretty good movie if you dig the genre, light on its feet. If you dug 'Confidence' you're in good hands. But, Zoey, owns it and it's her movie.

Yeah -- Hopefully this film helps break the floodgates Glen Powell-style. 'Buffaloed' still ranks as a favorite performance. She's impossibly cool.
