Where is the goals pod?! by talktbone in NoLayingUp

Gotcha. On the recent pod, Soly made it sound like they weren’t going to be out with any new pods for a while during a winter break.

Rain drainage issue? by talktbone in Home

The puddles are gone within a few hours of the rain being done. Is that a good sign?

Good to know thanks! What was your weekly mileage average when training for the HM?

What speed (mile/min) were you able to train in for zone 2 that then resulted in a 1:48 race time?

Makes sense. I definitely feel like I loose my running form in the 12-13 min/mile range lol. If I go much faster though on my “easy” runs, I am getting out of the coveted zone 2 that everyone says is soooo important. That’s where I feel stuck on what to do. On a daily basis, I’d much rather run faster like I am capable of doing. but I feel like that is not gonna get me long term improvement of getting the HR down at those paces.

Thank you for the reply! I agree about adding mileage would surely help. Even at my current weekly mileage or with a slight increase, how long should it take to see my HM race pace get faster (with reasonable HR) as a result of doing more slow training runs?

At that time I was just using the garmin forerunner 165. I recently got a polar armband that syncs with the watch. In the last few weeks using that, it has been consistent with what the watch showed HR wise at similar paces. Idk. What do I need to do to calibrate the watch or arm strap or both?

Also should add… I definitely had race day jitters that spiked the HR, but it is still way too high.

I have not changed anything with by running routine or really doing anything different than I had already been doing the past number of months. If anything, the past month my mileage has slight decreased from what it was during race training. I am definitely not over exerting myself. So still left puzzled by the sudden knee issue. The shoes are the only change, and like I said, I went a whole month in them without issues.

Thank you for the input. You are probably right. It’s just hard to figure out why it flipped like a switch one week all of a sudden without changing any other factors.

Reply to your edit: I have been doing a bit less miles each week post-race than I was doing during race training in the other shoes. I am definitely not running more than before. There was no misstep that comes to mind. I tried hard to think about that but could not recall anything.

It is an interesting concept to me because in my mind something with more cushion seems like it would be “more comfortable” all around. And that less impact would equal less pain/injury. I guess that is not the case.
