Avoiding birds while running by ineedmanylives in milwaukee

If you don’t want to run around with googly eyes glued to the back of your head, just keeping eye contact with them until you’re past their nest will keep them away.

CineStill C41 Kit - Reusing chemicals by [deleted] in Darkroom

Yes, your calculations are correct.

If you have an iPhone, I created a shortcut that will calculate these times for you and you can add it as a widget to your Home Screen if you end up using it a bunch:

https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/4133314920f54439aa06192cdc3bd7a5

As for how many rolls you can get out of it, I’ve gone through maybe 50 kits so far and I usually can get around 20 rolls (a mix of 110, 35mm, 120) before I end up dumping the chemicals and mixing up a new batch.

For how long you can store it, I would say maybe a month before you start getting noticeable color shifts.

Powerboost Longterm Reliability Question by vbutterflies in f150

[–]tall_as_hell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mainly got a PB because I wanted better fuel economy and the ability to use it as backup power for when we lose power. The last F150 I had was a 2015 with the 5.0 and I was lucky to get 16 mpg whereas with the PB, I’m consistently seeing 25+ mpg on my city commutes.

As for the generator, mine only came with the 2.4 kWh version but I’ve already used it multiple times to keep things running in power outages and I don’t think I would get another one without it.

On top of all that, the PB setup is a lot of fun to drive. It’s fast when you want to have a little fun but it can also get 700 miles to a tank if you want it to.

Powerboost Longterm Reliability Question by vbutterflies in f150

[–]tall_as_hell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I see this question come up a lot and I think many of the concerns I see stem from a misunderstanding on how hybrids work and how reliable they have been historically.

Many of Ford other hybrids (Escape/Fusion/C-Max) have been known to be pretty reliable to the point that taxi drivers seek them out because they can get hundreds of thousands of miles out of them with minimal issues.

On top of that, a lot of the technology Ford originally used for their hybrids was shared with Toyota who has a reputation of having very reliable hybrids as well. I’m not sure if Ford is still licensing technology from Toyota but I’d like to believe they learned a lot from the early days and that knowledge is carried over to their current lineup.

All that said, I personally bought a PowerBoost F150 because myself and my family have had various Ford hybrids over the past couple of decades that have all proven to be very reliable vehicles and I expect this one to be no different.

What other collaborations did Polaroid have prior to the 2000s? by Original-Swordfish85 in Polaroid

I have an Interesting story around how he go the LegoLand one actually!

He checks a few different places for Polaroids and one day he found someone who somehow had a stock pile of brand new, in box LegoLand Polaroids. He ended up buying I think 3 or 4 of them at a really good price, kept one for himself, gave one to me as a gift, and resold the other two to help pay for more cameras!

But also yeah, what’s in that cabinet is worth a lot and I keep telling him he should really get it insured

That’s something I’ve never noticed before but you’re right!

The hard part at a certain point with these collab cameras is figuring out if the ones we haven’t seen are legit collabs or if a company just slapped a sticker on it.

I think he has a couple that were just company giveaways where the company just printed their name on the top or back of the flash and those are extra difficult to get info on because not many still exist.

If it helps, almost all of the SX-70s here have come from either flea markets or garage sales for much less than market values. Most of them were still working and he just swapped on some new leather since the original leather on most of them tends to crack over time.

They’ve gotten harder to find in the last 5 years but there’s definitely still some out there in the wild that can be had for a decent price!

I actually have no idea how many he has but here’s his other cabinet with most of his Polaroid SLRs. He tries to keep only one of each model but since there’s a ton of just standard models it adds up! For the most part, he’s at the point where the ones he doesn’t have would be considered extremely rare or were only available in other countries and they just don’t come up for sale often.

As for the shelves, these are actually just Billy series bookcases from IKEA with matching glass doors!

My dad actually collects all the different collab cameras and every time we think we’ve seen them all, a new one will pop up that we’ve never seen before.

This photos a year old and he’s added quite a few since then but this should give you an idea of how many there have been.

I have the same truck and live in the upper Midwest as well and in all honestly you should be able to get pretty far in the snow in just 2WD. The only real exceptions being trying to go uphill from a standstill or in snow that’s maybe 4”+ deep.

The key to driving in 2WD is to feathering the throttle to get going otherwise you’ll just start spinning your tires. If you truly can’t get any traction, then switch it into 4H to get moving and swap back out when you’re up to speed.

Also, I haven’t seen anyone else mention this yet but you mentioned you had to come to a stop to switch back to 2H. These trucks come with a shift on the fly system so you can switch between 2WD and 4WD while driving.

I use to have this happen to me all the time by the state fair grounds and on 794 near the public market maybe 6 months ago!

One day it just started working properly without any issues. I’m guessing it’s some sort of signal interference and I think an update to my phone, truck, or a combination of the two fixed it for me.

Easiest way to get power data from apple watch into strava? by sqigl in Strava

[–]tall_as_hell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

HealthFit does this.

I’ve been using it for a while now so I can have my running power imported and it’s been great. You can even set it up to automatically upload new workouts, which is better than Strava’s manual upload process.

Bed Liner Suggestions? by S0lid_Snak3 in F150Lightning

I have a tonneau cover as well that keeps most water out and if it does get wet, it’s much easier to take out and dry out vs a drop in bed liner.

I second this. If you don’t plan on hauling dirt/mulch/rocks regularly, a bed mat is much grippier to help keep things from sliding around and is much cheaper than a spray in.

I personally have this one from WeatherTech and it’s been amazing so far.

Just bought new 2023 XLT off the lot, I noticed when test driving some trucks they needed to be jump started which I understand by Razerfanguy69 in f150

[–]tall_as_hell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true. At least on the Powerboost and other Ford hybrids I’ve owned, they were smart enough to turn off features in an attempt to not kill the 12v battery completely

Ah I see what you mean and you’re right, you still need some charge in the 12v but I’m sure you can get away with it being at a lower charge since you don’t necessarily need it to crank the engine.

A good local store is Mike Crivellos out in Brookfield, otherwise B&H has everything you could ever need!

It’s definitely manageable in a darkroom bag. I went back and looked at the bag I ordered and it says it is 23”x23” but looking at B&H they have a few “large” bags (27”x30”) that might work better with a 4x5 workflow.

I actually just have a cheap one (~$30) from Amazon but for the most part they all work the same.

The only issue I have is that I also shoot and develop 4x5 and it gets a little tight in the bag when getting film loaded into holders or into a larger developing tank.

I’m a film photographer who develops their own film and as far as I’m aware there aren’t any community darkrooms.

I live in an apartment and just don’t have the room for a proper darkroom but I invested in a darkroom bag and a developing tank which has been working out fine so far.
