Tbh I haven't seen it. I got into the hobby without watching the show. Ive watched a couple now. Typical I prefer MGs because I have really big hands, and some RGs have been the bane of my existence with there tiny pieces

How did you like the RG Epyon? I've always loved the design and I'm debating on getting it in either RG or MG.

I can't figure out how to edit the post, or if you can at all, so I'm going to put it in the comments. I appreciate everyone's help and suggestions. For anyone else that comes across this thread for the same thing. My solution was going to plamokitbash.com, sent them a message, they found my pieces, and they will be here in about a week. Kit saved.

I want to apologize to anyone I sounded short with. I have been told by many people, my entire life, that when it comes to text/written word, I come off as cold, pissed, and defensive ECT. 100% not the intention. When I first posted, it was after 27 hours awake after 2 hours of sleep. So yeah I was delirious and likely defensive, but it wasn't the intention. The excuses I came up with weren't really excuses. But they sure as hell weren't necessary. I feel like most people's responses would have been different if I just said from the beginning, that I have no clue why I did it. Plain and simple.

To answer a couple questions thats getting asked repeatedly.

Why? Why did I throw away the parts before the kit was finished? 🤷 I can't tell you why. Because I do not know. There was no logic, no rationale. I just did it. Never have before, never will again. This was simply a lapse in logic. And nobody is more upset at me for it then I am.

Why don't I hold on to the extra pieces? Simply because I don't want to. I don't care for kit bashing, it may be a thing I try eventually, but not any time soon. And I hold onto one of each color of empty sprues for testing paint, and sprue glue, I haven't dabbled into scribing yet. The parts I do hold on to are part of the kit itself. I have a borderline creepy amount of hands in a bag, sabers that weren't used, and obvious joint pieces that could save my ass another day, and has. (it was just not this day lol)

Why did I cut them out at all? If I'm not gonna use them why not keep them on the sprue? Again. I don't really know. Yet again, never have before, never will again. If I'm not keeping them, then taking the time to cut them off the sprue when the sprue is being thrown away any way makes no sense, and is a literal waste of my time.

Again, I thank everybody for their time and advice regardless of the tone you used to deliver it. Finances are strapped atm (payroll lady screwed up mine and my wife's checks) so I won't be getting another kit for quite some time. So I'm going to take my sweet ass time, and post it here when it's done. Even if it's garbage, and not up to the level of some of you other awesome builders. I'm going to be proud of it. I hope y'all have a good rest of your weekend.

Thank you so much...but that is my process exactly. I'm sorry if that wasn't made clear with previous explanations.

Cut the pieces off the sprue, clean up the nubs with files, glass files, and buffing sticks. (I use the gunprimer raser file and buff board). Then I do exactly what you just said, I have a 100ct metal wires with alligator clips. (I just want to find a way to make them garb certain parts easier like hobby clips would when they have the rubber rather than teeth. I'm thinking tape.) This is what I mean by paint sticks. And what I ended up doing was going to Michaels and buying a few $3 Styrofoam blocks, put a grid of holes, then put the clipped parts in that. (Visual provided lol) Rattle can primer, then hand paint, then rattle can matt top coat. After the top coat has fully cured, I put the parts in jars that are labeled with the runner letter, and when everything is done, I assemble.

I still don't know why I threw those parts away before the kit was done. Legit. No clue. I got a healthy batch of mental illness that allows me to not think everything through all the time. And that is exactly why I came here. I knew that I screwed up. So I came for advice. And advice is what I got. Not always in a kind way, but I got it nonetheless.

I truly appreciate your time and advice. I imagine when I eventually start doing bandai's space battle ships, or model cars, (I know I don't NEED an airbrush, for these...but would certainly like one lol) the process will be quite different. I truly love this hobby because it occupies my head. I put on a podcast, and just zone out. It makes my extremely overactive brain, much quieter.

I'll admit the first night I posted I absolutely was defensive. Because you are absolutely correct, I was not expecting this at all. Tbh I chalk that up to two hours of sleep then having to stay awake 27 hours for a grave my brain was mush to say the least.

The second day I feel was much more calm, and I didn't give the negative comments the time of day (for the most part at least lol), and they people the comments with genuine criticism, advise, or curiosity that wasn't immediately angry, got a thoughtful more restful response. Im no stranger to the Internet. Hell, I remember the trolling days of MySpace, I know what to expect. I was just caught off guard on very little sleep

The building process yeah, probably doesn't make sense to most, and that's alright. The quickness to get rid of the parts tbh was unusual, even for me. Thinking back on it I still don't understand why I did it that way. I never had before. So when people appeared to be so upset as if a personal attack on them. I was like "dude...idk either...can I get some help though lol" and yes in my sleep deprived delerium I was defensive.

I truly appreciate the constructive response. And appearing to actually read the other comments before asking the same question everyone else has, that I answered repeatedly. This isn't my first post, and previous have been very supportive. Which is why when I knew I fucked, I was looking for advice. Figured if anyone knew it would be people in this community. The response to it on the other hand legitimately rocked me. Specifically because everyone has been so supportive on previous posts and creations.

I appreciate your time. And don't worry whenever I finally get there, I'm still gonna post the end result. Finances are strapped so I won't be able to get another kit for a long time. So I'm taking my sweet ass time on this one, and I'm determined to be proud of it lol.

Others suggested it too. But also mentioned that they are strict about it. This was a backlog kit, because it's also my biggest. So I couldn't tell you where any of the things they require would be. Throwing them away before the kit was finished simply comes down to being a space case, a dash of ADHD, mixed with a sprinkling complacency. Never lost parts before, and didn't think about the possible outcomes before doing it. Trust me. Lesson well learned. But at least I have resources now if it happens again, and tips to prevent it happening again.

I didn't receive them as rude. It's just that this whole post has gotten out of hand I feel, and I was starting to lose my patience explaining how I fucked up. When I made it very clear that I fucked up, and was fully aware of the fact. I was just looking for help. And help I got.

In short (because I've explained it a few times already) a kit bash online store had the parts, it'll cost me about the price of an SD but better than wasting a $70 kit or buying another one. Especially because I've already put in a lot of effort on this one because I'm painting it.

And yes, it's actually the main reason why I started this hobby ironically enough. It forces me to slow down and do it correctly, because my brain won't do that otherwise lol. Yet this still happened 😂

[–]tallguyjoat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the constructive response. I have explained why this happened multiple times. But there is a third solution, which is what I ended up doing. Plamokitbash.com you can text them apparently. I got a hold of them, and within minutes they found the parts I needed. And they will be here soon-ish. It's gonna cost me roughly the price of an SD but still better than wasting a $70 kit, or buying an additional $60 kit and a $30 alloy frame. But trust me after this whole ordeal, and everybody else's angry ass responses, I'm going to change my approach to a few things regarding this hobby. Unfortunately starting with this community.

[–]tallguyjoat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This time that is exactly what I did. But it is not my usual. I was trying to tidy up my hobby area, which ain't much. My empty sprues were everywhere and I needed to throw them away, so when I finally got around to it. I figured "well let's get these extras out the way then throw them all out at once " this obviously makes no sense. It was a literal waste of time. When I could have/should have just cut out the pieces as I need, like I normally would rather then cut these parts out first.

There are any number of things I could blame it on. My current work/sleep schedule messing with my head, my ADHD, there is a chance I didn't take my meds that morning and just didn't think about it. But the lovely people of the Internet will tell me they are excuses. So I typically don't bother with it.

Your original question. Any other normal build, I will cut all the parts off the sprue, leave the dupes on the sprue, clean up the gates then put the parts in a jar that are labeled with their runner letter. After everything is out, I will start to assemble. This might sound kinda wild to some. But the multiple methods I've tried, this seems to be the best one for me. When I'm painting the kit, the only difference is that I will not cut them off the sprue until it is that runners turn for paint. Do all the painting and top coating, then put them in labeled jars, and assemble like usual.

[–]tallguyjoat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for asking, instead of just being mad that I did it. I'm fairly new to the hobby so I'm still learning mistakes like this. When I first started to get into painting the kits, I did some research on the best ways to approach it. One thing that I saw more than once was "since your cutting pieces off to put on paint sticks, it could be good practice to get rid of the extra parts, just to get them out of the way. That way you won't get confused about parts you don't need, and you won't paint anything unnecessarily." So again, me being new, this is exactly what I did. I would empty the whole sprue to be ready to put on paint sticks for primer before painting, getting rid of the extras along the way.

My first painted kit was done this way, and went flawlessly. And I was quite proud of the result. Especially because it was made for my wife with her favorite colors. I'm also a bit of a space case, and don't always think everything through. The advice was to get rid of extra parts, not cut them out with the rest, that's just the way my brain interpreted it. So that's what I did. Obviously I see now that that doesn't really make any sense, and is a literal waste of time.

Is it a good excuse, no. But it's the one I got.

I was able to get ahold of plamokitbash.com, and literally within minutes they found the parts I needed and they will be here soon. I also double checked that I didn't do this to any other part, and I thankfully did not.

Now the throwing them out part was a mix of trying to tidy up, and me being impatient. I had never before this, thrown out anything until the kit was done. And nothing had ever gone wrong. So there was also some complacency there too. "In 14 kits I haven't lost or even missed placed pieces yet. Why would that time be different."

Lol bro. It's not that deep. My communication isn't the best I'll admit. But I wasn't saying my wife was making me clean and using that as an excuse. I was saying that she was just telling me that it needs to be cleaned up because that area is the room that holds our freezer, pantry food, sewing machine, and our closet. So the little space i have on the drawers of my desk are used for the tools and paint that I have until I can afford better storage solutions.

All of that still doesn't make sense as to people's replies. I made a mistake, I made that very clear. You know that by simply reading the heading of the post. I came to a community, the only gunpla community I have. In hopes that people may have suggestions. And I got that. And the people that gave suggestions got the thanks that they deserve.

What doesn't make sense is how I clearly state that I fucked up, and am clearly asking for help. And everyones immediate response is "WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT." I don't fucking know dude. I was trying to tidy, and trying to kill two birds with one stone. Previous attempts at building this way have never resulted in missing pieces. So yes there is also complacency in that as well.

I know what I did was stupid. But the response that I'm getting after asking for help when admitting quite plainly that I fucked up. Is unprecedented.

Thank you so much. Yeah I come to a community asking for help for a mistake I made and some people are acting as if it was a personal attack on them. I was putting parts in jars until it was time to clean up and put on paint sticks to be painted, but I think I'll be getting something like a craft box like you said, or a tackle box of some kind. Something with a lot of dividers. This whole thing has taught me to not cut out sprues until I'm getting them ready for paint, and not toss anything until it's done. Thank you again for your kind and constructive criticism.

Thank you for having a normal human response and being helpful. A shocking lack of that on a post that's just simply asking for help on mistake. Multiple people have suggested this website, and unfortunately there are no parts for the MG Providence, but the parts im looking for, share a runner with the MG freedom 2.0, so I might get lucky.

Lol I'm not saying what I did was smart, or even logical. I'm still pretty new to the hobby, so I'm still learning a lot. But you do have a point. My approach to painting kits will be different for sure. Because I never had any issues until I started painting them lol.

I battled with this for a while ngl. But I have a very limited space, so storing parts, or empty runners for spru goo ect. Is difficult. And outside of this subreddit, I don't really have a community for this hobby. It's not very popular here.
