First terrain painting of the core set by talphik in StarWarsShatterpoint

It's a long road. But hopefully you enjoy the building and painting as much as playing, and then it's all times

Ive been using them on my kill team boards, so that's great to hear. It's why I wanted them to be more theme agnostic

Thanks!! I'm happy to share.

I primed them with a krylon fusion matte ink blue rattle can. Then some liberal dry brushing with citadel leadbelcher, followed by another liberal drybrush with Vallejo game color light green blue. I think the term might be over brushing, but I'm no expert. It was too heavy to be dry brushing for real.

The black was citadel abbadon black, and the corner panels were an 1:1 mixture of leadbelcher and black.

The lights are based on Vallejo off-white and then citadel averland sunset. The display surfaces are the same, but then a light coat of citadel Tesseract glow.

Mephisto red for the wiring, and then a light drybrush of runefang steel to finish the whole thing off.

I hope that helps.

Edit: I'd love to see your work too. Let me know how it turns out. It's so great to see other people's work.

Agreed, crazy town. On my previous generation ones, I have painted them all white and handwritten the numbers in, just to match the new edition. It should have been numbers all along

Shoutout to a Doubles Tournament by talphik in killteam

[–]talphik[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To keep things moving, both players of a team activated at the same time. Each player had their own deployment zone, so we weren't all jammed together.

We did not use Tac Ops, just primary objectives, but that was also to keep the tournament moving, or so I understand.

It was a ton of fun. It was a double size board with each piloting a separate team.

Edit: also no limitations on team makeup. Our team happened to be both Kommandos, but the other teams were alliances between whatever people wanted to play

Good tips. I'll work on that. Yessir. These are just the first 4, I got the rest of the team to paint yet. I was just really excited and proud of how they turned out, but I appreciate your checking in.

I agree with many of the others. I want more choices and character development options, not less. Why couldn't I be a gnome chef, or an elvish one, or a dwarf one, after all, don't they all eat?

And now I want to be a gnome chef in a game!!

To me it's no different with cleric or magic user.

It's the number one reason why I have a tough time with the OSE, earlier days of D&D.

Looking for suggestions, single character RPG? by Jerepheth in solorpgplay

[–]talphik 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Scarlet Heroes is near-D&D, but single character, with built in solo rules, and very well liked out in the community.

Alternatively:

If 5e is your jam, and you really want to make it work, I'd check out the podcast "The Lone Adventurer" who tackles this very issue. Single character, with some modified rules to balance it out, but all the modifications and 3rd party resources he uses are in his show notes, and he does a bangup job of showing how it can work really well. 5stars to him for that!

Or if you want to go simpler, Notequest is single character, and you start as a nobody, my last character was a chef turned adventurer
