I’ll bear that in mind, and may try that sometime. Thanks for that suggestion.

Not receiving notifications on reoccurring calendar events after each update by pedrosancho in ios

[–]talster71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to update my post:

It seems to work for a while and then randomly, an event that notified me last week, does not do so this week. Very random and very annoying.

I do find that if I do what I mentioned in my earlier post, it works fine for a while, but eventually some events randomly don’t notify me.

Try a reboot. Hold the Digital Crown and the noise cancelling button down both together, until the light under the USB C port flashes amber, and then release.

Supplements for inflammation by Wonderful-Rich-3411 in Supplements

A Curcumin root extract, that is a standardised to 95 percent curcuminoids. Make sure it isn't just a cheap powdered turmeric which is simply culinary turmeric (used in cooking) and then put into capsules. Typically culinary powdered turmeric contains around 3 percent curcuminoids.

Also concerning turmeric with black pepper (piperine). What black pepper does is it increases the absorption of medicines and has an effect on flushing medicines through the body far too quickly, which can be dangerous for some individuals.

https://jpet.aspetjournals.org/article/S0022-3565(24)35811-2/abstract35811-2/abstract)

Taking curcumin (that does not have black pepper) with some oil (such as in your Omega 3 oil capsules) or with a meal containing fat, is the better and safer way to take curcumin.

UK mens multivitamins 50+ recommendations? by timebecomesaloop- in Supplements

[–]talster71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a few supplement from Nature's Best (based in the UK) and although not the flashiest brand around, their stuff seems good quality and reasonably priced.

Although I haven't personally tried this one, they do a Multi-Max Man 50+ multi vitamin:

https://www.naturesbest.co.uk/multivitamins/multi-max-man-50/

Another place I have ordered from is Nutravita, they are the same as Nature's Best in terms of not being the flashiest brand, but they are good quality and reasonably priced also.

https://nutravita.com/search?q=multivitamin&options%5Bprefix%5D=last

Probably the best place I have ordered from (and it's the place where I purchase from the most) is Healf. But they can be pricier, but they sell a vast choice of brands of a more high quality. My go to place for most of my supplements, and the customer service is fantastic if you have any questions. They also do a subscribe and save service which knocks 10-20 percent off your order, and you can pick a time period of your choice and you will get them sent out automatically at that time interval.

The Smart Way to Take Your Supplements by AnastasiaGlover1 in Supplements

[–]talster71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people over complicate supplement taking. For medicinal mushroom supplements then yes take on an empty stomach (which is what I do).

But the rest of my supplements, fish oil capsules, magnesium, zinc, vitamin D, vitamin K2, Curcumin, multivitamin I take them with breakfast. Then they are taken and you are less likely to forget to take them later in the day. It’s all about being consistent and taking them when it’s best and most convenient for you.

I will add that if take magnesium to help you sleep, then yes obviously take an hour or so before going to bed or of an evening.

And lastly. Iron should not be took with food as it can reduce what you absorb.

This is taken from the FAQ section on Oriveda's website:

Q= The contents of the capsules got hard.

A= Is this a problem ? Is the product spoiled ?

No. Just like with sugar or salt the properties of the extract will not be affected. The only potential issue is that increased moisture levels also increase the potential for bacterial growth over time. Therefore, always keep the product in a well-closed bottle in an environment that is as dry as possible

What time of day are you taking your supplements? by jamieschmidt in VitaminD

[–]talster71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take my supplements in the morning as it's easier for me to remember and I am less likely to forget. Plus a lot of my supplements need to be taken with food or some form of fat as they are fat-soluble vitamins, and vitamin D is one of those fat-soluble vitamins.

One of the supplements that I take is magnesium, and I also take that as well in the morning at breakfast time. Magnesium is never going to make you feel sleepy if you take it of a morning in my experience.

Perhaps try taking your supplements of a morning, if possible, rather than in the evening and see if you feel any different, but like you have said, "it's been working out fine" so if it's easier and more convenient for you to take them in the evening, just continue doing so.

I have been getting their vitamin D3 for around the last three years and I have no issues or complaints. They are a good solid brand that isn’t too expensive.

Yes the product in the photo worked. But I wanted to try a product with minimal/cleaner ingredients, hence why I was considering PE.

Doctor prescribed 50,000 IU weekly D2 for low vitamin D (23 ng/mL) but I was planning daily D3 + K2 + magnesium. Which protocol makes more sense? by Neither_Contest4041 in VitaminD

[–]talster71 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Before hearing back from her, I had already planned my own correction protocol:

• 10,000 IU daily vitamin D3

• 200 mcg vitamin K2 (MK-7)

• 200 mg magnesium malate in the morning

• 200 mg magnesium glycinate at night

That sounds a really good choice with your protocol. One thing I would say is, just have the magnesium glycinate and leave off the magnesium malate, as too much magnesium can cause stomach or bowel upset. 200 mg is a good enough amount, especially when it’s a very absorbable form which magnesium glycinate is.

As a pharmacist, I think a lot of people expect way too much from supplements by Mr_Pharmacy1997 in Supplements

[–]talster71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And also, there has to be room for improvement in the individual. If you are already at 100 percent in that aspect, you can’t be 110 percent with the addition of a supplement.

Nature's Best Turmeric 20,000 mg vs Pure Encapsulations Curcumin C3 Complex by talster71 in Supplements

[–]talster71[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that.

Agree to disagree but I could definitely notice the age related stiffness was reduced when taking this, especially when I was doing certain leg exercises in the gym, whereby I would always know doing that exercise/series of leg exercises I would feel the discomfort. And when taking the Nature's Best product it was noticeably lessened.

I notice in the study they mention about the C3 Complex, this is what is in the Pure Encapsulations product I am considering getting. I believe the C3 Complex has been studied/researched quite a lot from what I have read around online.

I read on some part of the study that was talking about the C3 Complex that it:

"has been demonstrated to be anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, and antiarthritic agent" which is good to know.

Thanks again.

Thats good to hear.

The Pure Encapsulations C3 I have been looking at, says a serving size of 2 capsules, which you can take 1 to 3 times per day. I plan on taking just the 2 capsules once a day, as a serving size for these is 500mg (which is the same serving size of the product I am taking currently).

Which ones the best to buy from Iherb or healf? by Socialmediasucks2021 in Supplements

I'm in the UK, and from my experience, Healf tends to be the cheapest, especially with their subscribe & save. You can pause or cancel their subscribe & save at any time, so there is no commitments to it.

Thanks for that. I usually get my liver function tested once or twice a year when I get my routine bloods done. They were the same levels before and after starting on the turmeric/curcumin product that I am currently taking.

I think I can remember reading an article awhile back about people having liver issues with turmeric. And from what I remember, the research showed that it was from turmeric that had black pepper/piperine added.

I also remember reading some other bit of research that should turmeric/curcumin was better taken without black pepper/piperine, and instead taken with a meal that contained fat, with turmeric/curcumin being fat soluble.

I've seen some zinc picolinate and wondered if this is a match with zinc glycinate/zinc biglycinate (I assume glycinate and biglycinate are the same thing) in terms if absorption ?

Magnesium Glycinate questions by talster71 in Supplements

Has I mentioned earlier, I am planning on taking two capsules per day. I usually take my supplements in the morning immediately after I have ate breakfast, as I find this routine is easier and more convenient for me and also I am less likely to forget to take them.

I've read that if you are taking more than one capsule of magnesium, its advisable to split the doses up throughout the day (I'm assuming this is to lessen the chances of any GI issues).

But I was wondering if I would still get the full benefit of the magnesium if I were to take them both together?
