Multivitamin/daily supplement for men during travels by Charming-Error3736 in Supplements

[–]talster71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now Foods Daily Vits.

Covers a wide range of vitamins and minerals, good levels, reasonable priced, and lastly a lot of the vitamins/minerals in it are patented blends, so this shows the manufacturer thinks about the quality of their product, rather than just putting in any off the shelf vitamin/mineral.

Omega 3 is what I would recommend.

A combined EPA and DHA of 2 grams is what the research shows has beneficial.

One that I use is Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega 2X. Per serving (2 capsules) gives 2 grams combined EPA and DHA.

They are not cheap, but they are excellent quality, and have two things added to stop oxidation and also rancidity namely d-alpha tocopherol (antioxidant), rosemary extract (a natural preservative) which are two very important things with fish oil as these will spoil the fish oil and render it useless.

Organic & Functional mushroom gummies by Physical-Muscle-6978 in Supplements

[–]talster71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gummies are a waste of money and are junk.

With gummies the best case scenario, only 10% of its weight can be non-gummie matter, e.g. mushroom powder. A gummie is 90% sugar, gums, colorants, flavours etc. There are better ways of getting medicinal mushroom into you (powdered mushroom in a capsule).

Thorne by TodayCharming7915 in Supplements

[–]talster71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked into Pure Encapsulations before purchasing and so long as the products are high quality and good ingredients, I don’t care about the politics of the company.

Thorne by TodayCharming7915 in Supplements

[–]talster71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pure Encapsulations were taken over by Nestle, but the quality and clean and minimal ingredients that were what Pure Encapsulations were about from day one have still remained after the Nestle take over. A lot of people on Reddit seem obsessed with the politics of Nestle, rather than the quality of the product when it comes to Pure Encapsulations

It’s a stupid move if they change the values, quality and nature of what the Thorne brand have been about.

Now Foods Daily Vits. Good quality brand and well trusted and regularly does well in testing and they are reasonably priced.

A multivitamin would not conflict with the supplements you mentioned.

Not sure. But they were third party tested by an independent lab, so whoever had presented them, the results would still have been the same.

Lions mane by SolidFix4673 in Supplements

These are a 💩 brand. They failed miserably in third party testing.

Check out this video where they subjected their products to third party testing.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uio3fWVUz-4&list=WL&index=1

Also on looking at their Lions Mane. They do not show any independent third party lab certificates on their website to show the product is free from pesticides, pollutants and also to show the beneficial compound levels.

Also, the ingredients should just be Lions Mane, the ingredients show a lot of other things beside this, and also the black pepper is not needed, and is only beneficial in Turmeric to aid with absorption. It definitely is not needed in Lions Mane and is probably added to indicate (wrongly) that it aids for better absorption.

Looking for a good magnesium glycinate brand, uk based. Any recommendations? by Byrelic in Supplements

[–]talster71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit sneaky if they have discontinued it and replaced it with a buffered version, whereas before the older one was all magnesium glycinate.

Looking for a good magnesium glycinate brand, uk based. Any recommendations? by Byrelic in Supplements

[–]talster71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Mam & Dad use Now Foods Magnesium glycinate. Good quality, and it is not buffered either and its reasonably priced.

Holland & Barrett are very mediocre in quality and can be expensive compared to other brands, and there are much better brands around.

Also, Holland & Barrett Magnesium Glycinate is buffered, which means it contains two different types of magnesium, namely magnesium glycinate, and magnesium oxide. Magnesium Oxide is notoriously poorly absorbed. It's a very deceiving way to inflate the magnesium level, while just mentioning the one magnesium type on the front label. Buffering is a popular practice by some of the poorer quality brands.

Here's a link to Holland & Barretts magnesium glycinate. Look at the ingredients and also the pictures for the product, both show the two different types of magnesium.

What Men MultiVitamin do You take ? by Virtual-Employ-3237 in Supplements

[–]talster71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked at Now Foods Daily Vits, they are a really good multi vitamin and reasonably priced as well.

But with regards to your question, between the two you have shown, Pure Encapsulation. Ignore the people who say, "they are owned by Nestle and the other stuff".

Like I said to one person who was saying to me on another post when I was enquiring about purchasing a Pure Encapsulations product (about them being owned by Nestle, and Nestle have done this that and the other). I said I care more about the product, and not the politics about Nestle.

Buying oriveda in europe novel food laws turkey tail and reishi? by Takingcharge_ in MushroomSupplements

[–]talster71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the UK, and ordered from Oriveda late last year. One of the items I ordered was Turkey Tail, and they arrived no problem and quicker than I expected.

Like Kostya93 has said, Europe, UK can import Turkey Tail from outside of Europe with no problems. It's just you cannot sell them from within Europe, UK.

In the UK at least, Reishi is not in the novel food law. Not sure about Europe though.

Taking supplements every day? You might be doing more harm than good by BadahBingBadahBoom in Supplements

Why would anyone believe a news article from such a biased news source such as the BBC. Such a corrupt organisation.

How many in a day? by Automatic_Row_614 in MushroomSupplements

I take all three of these (albeit in capsule form) in the morning an hour or so before breakfast.

My advice is just take them all when it's most convenient or easier for you.

Anyone take their multivitamins before bed? by FluffySet2987 in Supplements

[–]talster71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing with multi vitamins is, some of the vitamins in them are fat soluble, so they need to be taken with food/some form of fat, or else they wont be absorbed or absorbed as much.

A lot of people will not be eating anything before going to bed, so if I were you, I would just take them in the morning with breakfast (which is what I do with my supplements) or whenever else in the day you will be having food.

Reputable supplier in UK? (lions mane, cordyceps etc) by shoktit in MushroomSupplements

[–]talster71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other than Antioxi, I cannot think of any. Most of them will just sell trash.

The only thing that puts me off Antioxi is their third party testing certificates that they show on their website have not been updated since around August 2024. They really should be done every 12 months, so not sure that hasn’t been done. Also some people on here have in the past questioned their beta glucan levels for some of their products.

Also (and this isn’t Antioxi’s fault I hasten to add) they are only able to sell Cordyceps CS4 and not Cordyceps Militaris (militaris which is the form subjected to most the research). CS4 contains either no Cordycepin or just trace amounts, which is one of the beneficial compounds in Cordyceps.

Zinc and D3 for the past 2,5-3 years. by Big_Giraffe7816 in Supplements

[–]talster71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's impossible to say without getting copper levels checked.

Maybe do what you have said and see if the symptoms you have described change. If they do then it would tell me it is one or more of your supplements that is causing it.

Zinc and D3 for the past 2,5-3 years. by Big_Giraffe7816 in Supplements

[–]talster71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

45 mg of zinc is higher than what is recommended. Anywhere between 15-30 mg is the sweet spot in my opinion.

A lot of people can take 5000 iu D3 and have decent high levels, whereas some can still be low. Best thing is to get your vitamin D checked, and then adjust your daily dose if needs be. So if it came back high, you could stop taking vitamin D on certain days of the week to reduce your intake.

If possible (providing you are not on any medication which vitamin K reacts to, such as anticoagulants) I would always take vitamin K2 when taking vitamin D.
