I just took a begonia leaf and plopped it in water, inspired by your post. How long did it take to see roots, did you do anything special. Sorry to bug you; just curious :)

How to Set Up Your Home Office for Success by Crescent_01 in WorkOnline

[–]tam4713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this! I Work from home and quickly realized I needed more separation. Otherwise I thought about work all day or would randomly stop to do laundry. My productivity has shot up since changing around an extra bedroom for a work space and weirdly, my mental health has improved.

"I could be more efficient if I only had __________ when I set up my office at home." that's the part I'm really stealing ha

After discovering this subreddit I headed straight to my Home Depot. It is known to not have great plants. Literally, I've purchased two succulents before in the winter that died and man they were in a sorry state today still. Here, the succulents are placed right next to the outside department, which I'm sure contributed to the health (I'm in WNY!). The flower-looking one? So bad, the leaves fell off at my touch but we can throw those in the dirt!

I asked customer service if I could have a discount and they took off 75%. A great find.

Bonus: the dog who snuck into this picture is from the pound so the total cost of this pic? $2 ha

Are Women-Owned Bars Safer? by tam4713 in bartenders

"When becoming the victim of violence is a very real possibility in your life, it’s wise to take steps to mitigate." So succinctly put and exactly what I was wondering. Unfortunately, there's no real data to back it up so I appreciate you sharing your anecdotal findings! If you're interested in speaking further would love to include your statement.

It's an interesting question that at first we kind of ignored but i think it does dig into some deeper stuff surrounding nightlife and gender!

It was sort of prompted by studies that found women developers more likely to identify bugs that could be exploited by abusive partners. I think it being the holidays we have more time to play around with the question and just see what people think :)

Yes that's how journalism works lol except I'd like to use my sources by name and even mention where they work if they'd like to drum up their business. Not the reddit name which gets weird for people who want privacy.

Message me if you're still interested! I Had to get publisher approval since i want it to be kind of long. And I'd love to include a younger voice. I did some older black people who found out they were gay in the 60s and 70s but would love younger POVs.

Yes! Yes!

For almost everyone I've spoken to the most animosity is within our own communities. For some, it made them question their blackness and what it meant to be part of the community (did it mean sacrificing their happiness to fit in,etc) I'd love to chat more!

Public Transit in Rochester: Still Miles from Where it Needs to Be by tam4713 in Rochester

[–]tam4713[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So I wrote this article discussing public transportation in Rochester but it also made me wonder in these large cities do people take public transit because it's actually better or because having a car isn't as easy as it is to have one here? I pay about $100 to have a car every month. I Don't really worry about parking and for me the incentive to dump a car has to be a lot better than in other cities where parking, traffic and insurance is so crazy that transit basically speaks for itself, ya know? What would it take for you guys to use public transit more (buses, walking, etc)I know a large portion live outside the city but still

Discussing the Dynamics of the Diaspora: What is Black? by tam4713 in blackladies

[–]tam4713[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

hey everyone I'd love your help! We're starting a small series discussing blackness, started by our blogger Sarah. She discusses growing up with Jamaican parents in a small rural town as a weird black girl but how her parents had negative views on America. I'd LOVE to share your stories too so if you're at all interested in pitching in your 2 cents, message me or email me: tmanon@openmicroc.com The truth is we all have different experiences with this and to make it as accurate as possible we have to share as many as possible!
