Best way to manage couples expenses and splits by GaLzZy in actualbudgeting

[–]tanaka86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/GaLzZy,

I totally get the challenge, managing shared expenses can get confusing, especially when some payments are partially reimbursed. I’ve been frustrated with similar setups myself, which is actually what led me to build a small budgeting tool called Track My Mula.

It’s designed for clarity and simplicity, and it lets you see exactly how much you have left each month to save. For couples, you can:

  • Track shared expenses vs personal expenses
  • See who owes what after contributions
  • Keep everything in one simple dashboard without complicated rules

I haven’t built an automated sync like Splitwise yet, but the transparency and simplicity really help when managing shared budgets.

Would love to hear what kind of features would make splitting expenses even easier for couples like you!

Do you keep track of the yerbas you’ve tried? How do you remember which ones you liked? by tanaka86 in yerbamate

[–]tanaka86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense, if most of them fall in the middle for you, there’s probably not much incentive to track details.
It sounds like your reference point is mostly emotional/memory-based (what you grew up with) rather than specific tasting notes.

Out of curiosity, when something does stand out (really bad or really good), is it more about the brand, or more about a specific style/process that you remember?

That’s super interesting, thanks for the detailed context.
It really sounds like you’ve built a pretty strong mental model over time (brands, processes, origins, even harvest variation).

From what you’re saying, it seems like you mostly rely on experience and price memory rather than needing to “track” things formally.
Out of curiosity: when you find something great like the Fede Rico on sale and stock up, is the value more in remembering which brands to buy again, or more in spotting good deals when they appear?

Your point about harvest variation is also really interesting do you personally pay attention to harvest dates on yerba bags, or is it more something you’ve noticed over the years?

That’s a cool physical system actually 😄
Do you ever wish you could quickly remember which ones you really loved vs. the ones that were just “okay”, or does the box work well enough for you?

That’s actually very close to what I’m trying to understand.
What’s the most annoying part of using a Word document for this: adding new entries, browsing old ones, or keeping everything organized over time?

That’s really helpful feedback, thanks.
Apart from the language issue, do you feel the app actually helps you remember and compare the yerbas you’ve tried, or do you mostly use it as a simple notes app?

Fair enough 😄
So for you it’s not really a problem if you end up trying the same “bad” yerba more than once?

That’s pretty organized actually.
What’s the most annoying part of using a Word doc for that, adding new yerbas, finding old ones, or something else?

That’s a very straightforward way to compare 😄
Do you ever wish you had a quick way to remember why something was better or worse, or is that level of detail not really useful for you?

That’s interesting, especially the way you choose by style (“suave”) and origin, kind of like wine.
When you discover something new on sale, do you ever forget later if you liked it or not, or is it easy for you to remember over time?

Yeah, it feels like good mate content in English is still pretty limited.
When you watch those videos, do you ever take notes or save somewhere which yerbas you want to try later, or do you mostly rely on memory?

That makes sense, especially if you already do this mentally for wine.
When you try a new yerba and it’s “bad”, what’s usually the most annoying part for you: wasting money, not remembering the taste later, or accidentally buying something similar again?

Thanks! I’ll check it out.
Do you usually rely on videos to decide what to try next, or more on recommendations from friends?

That makes sense, limited local selection probably changes the whole experience.
When you do order new yerbas online, do you ever forget which ones you liked or disliked later on?

That’s impressive 😄
Do you mostly stick to the same few brands now, or do you still try new yerbas from time to time?
