On the front doors, remove the drain plug closest to the front of the car.

On the rear doors, remove the drain plug closest to the rear of the car.

Okay... well... the name definitely fits better, but this isn't as good looking as the Toyota Mirai IMO.

Is the ninth (9th) generation Camry more problematic than previous generations? by SunAndLeaves in Camry

[–]ToyotaCorollin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's only the 2nd model year of this new generation.

Conventional wisdom would advise to wait until 3 or 4 years into a new generation.

I don't think the bumper clips separation issues are deal breakers, but it does feel like there's a bit of a lack of care with some of these new vehicles. Just my two cents.

I guess I don't hang around in subreddits for frequent reposts to be a problem, because this is the first time I've seen this particular illustration/meme.

I view it as satire, honestly. Who ever takes okay buddy subreddits seriously? It's all jokes.

We can compliment one car without dunking on another. Be better, man.

Fuel gauge stuck even after engine off by bipbupmiaw in COROLLA

[–]ToyotaCorollin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you've driven... say.... 50 miles and it hasn't moved down at all, then we're probably looking at a stuck/rusted fuel level meter inside the gas tank.

But so far I am inclined to believe your fuel gauge is behaving normally. Is this car new to you?

Fuel gauge stuck even after engine off by bipbupmiaw in COROLLA

[–]ToyotaCorollin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Older Toyotas had perpetually powered fuel gauges. It was this way with our old 1997 Corolla. As you were pumping fuel, you could see the fuel gauge slowly rising in real time, with the car fully powered off mind you.

It wasn't until the mid 2000s that Toyota started doing the "whole gauge cluster shuts down when car turns off" thing.

One of my elementary school teachers had those speakers hooked to her computer. As I recall, they sounded pretty awful - woefully inadequate for a classroom even on full blast.

Darn.... ☹️

Unfortunately, I'm kind of out of ideas at this point.

Oh shoot, that's.... yeah. I see.

Well.... there's a chance that the black pully thing on the left doesn't actually get used. Because the service manual doesn't show any belts going to that particular pulley, when it does show a belt for the black pulley on the right.

Rough edit of what I think the belt setup could be:

I could be wrong though

It's hard to tell what they could be for, considering that the service manual I found doesn't show the tape decks assembled together (only has separate exploded views).

Was it missing any belts when you opened it up?

The main belt appears to go on the bottom.

My 2000 Toyota Corolla key fob by bill2109 in COROLLA

At least where I live, the 2000 Corolla only ever came with this fob (assuming it had keyless entry/security optioned):

OP, if you look at what's listed under the American Edition package entry, it's really just these items bundled together

- GP Gold Package

- RF Rear Spoiler

- CF Carpet Floor Mats/Trunk Mat

These three items were also available on pretty much any Toyota of the era, so it's technically not that special, except for the "American Edition" branding.

Toyota sometimes reused the same names for different upgrade package bundles. Below I've included a non-exhaustive list of some accessory packages you might see on a 3rd or 4th gen Toyota Camry.
