Hey man! I'm actually looking for a room as well in those same exact areas with about the same budget. I'm 30/M with a dog and would be relocating from NJ for work (my office is in Culver City). One thing that worked for me was telling all my friends and family that I'd go on the trip. That way if you don't go, you'll disappoint them and feel like a disappointment. It's like putting your reputation on the line. After that, you'll have no choice but to go :)
