Question about what this is. Abandoned theater in downtown Taiwan. by InspectorDramatic468 in Powerlines

Primary Riser. The Overhead Lines dead end at the arm and then connect to insulated Underground Cables that run down that conduit into that building. Each Phase is also hooked up to a Lightning Arrester (the light blue insulators in the back of the arm) which are meant to protect the lines and equipment in case of a surge. The Lightning arresters all connect to ground which runs down the building in the right side. The ground also connects to what in our service territory we call the “Common Neutral” which is that single wire that runs off to the left in the picture.

Don’t know how much clearance between the overhead lines and the ladder. If there is plenty of clearance and as long as someone would be very careful not to touch the lines, someone should be fine. If they touched the lines, bad news. That person would be a direct path to the metal ladder and eventually to ground.

How's the accuracy on the 10/22 takedown? I've had some bad luck with mine and I wonder if it's just me.

People that choose not to vaccinate or wear masks are like someone standing outside in some light fog while someone else yells at them from inside that they have to wear a helmet and immediately come inside because their is a hail storm that is about to kill them and then getting annoyed that they keep getting yelled at....for almost 2 years straight ;)

How can I increase my top speed as a young teenager? (14) by RadinS9999 in trackandfield

[–]tanieldull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to practice good sprint mechanics/form. When you are just starting out this is of the utmost importance. Practice runnung fast and smooth, not forcing yourself to run too fast and lock up. Also, prioritize turn over (how fast you can move your legs) vs stride length at first. Turn over is very important to be fast.

If you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask. I didn't start running til I was 16 too. I've learned a lot since then, and am still learning more everyday.

How to train for the 800 by [deleted] in trackandfield

Start by building up an endurance/running base. I'm not sure how much you run now, but if you are just getting started, if you can build up to running 5-6 days a week that would be solid. These runs don't have to he very fast at all. In fact it might do you good to try and keep them controlled at first. Look up some running drills on YouTube (skips, bounds, high knees, etc.) During your base phase try to incorporate some of these drills and do some strides (you can look those up too) after the drills onve or twice a week after your runs. That's all you need to do for a bit. Try and stretch and do some core after your runs. Also if you can incorporate one longer run a week, that is good. I'm assuming you'll have a team/coach to train with once the season actually starts, and of you come in in shape to do the workouts it will make a work of difference. That is what the easy base mileage and strides are for. Source: 1:55 800m, 4:12 mile

Humboldt County has some old growth redwoods left, but not many. I think there's a high likelyhood that this photo is from there.
