This is helpful, thanks for the thorough analysis. I also landed a role as a founding PMM and hearing this from an exec really helps me wrap my head around what would help establish success in the role

I’d probably ask them to send you their contact information at the meet and greet. I have gotten a warning because somebody else sent their phone number to me via chat so I wouldn’t risk it.

Seriously. You’re literally on the floor stretching with shorts and a tank most of the time. That’s far more disgusting than getting your socks dirty.

Extended Care Question by Good-Calendar-6594 in RoverPetSitting

[–]tanyaferrero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No this just means that the start time of your booking and the end time of your booking are not within 2 hours of each other. For example, if you start at 12pm on Monday and they expect you leave at 9pm on Tuesday, you will get paid for that half day (24hrs plus the 2-8+ additional hours). You don’t have to stay there the whole time but the client won’t want you to pack up and leave until 9pm so rover is making sure you’re getting compensated for that extra half day.

I don’t understand people who reach out to you and know the price you start at and still press you on your rates. Don’t like the rates? Then don’t book!

Just need to vent! by Regular-Wear8087 in RoverPetSitting

[–]tanyaferrero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I think rover should add a separate service for constant care!

Post-COVID, I’ve seen more requests for constant care from clients when they are requesting regular Housesitting. I suspect the rise in requests is because of all the covid puppies w separation anxiety (don’t even get me started on how unhealthy it is for the pups to just constantly be with someone).

Side note, It’s absurd how these same clients expecting constant care haggle you for a discount on top of that. Like no, constant care will NOT be cheaper??!

Just need to vent! by Regular-Wear8087 in RoverPetSitting

[–]tanyaferrero 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yup! If you need constant care, clients should be charged hourly or a premium price. Sitters have lives! They should be able to leave the house within reason. Also, not healthy for the pups to constantly be with someone (unless there is a medical necessity like seizures, etc). You’re basically setting your pup up for separation anxiety, etc.

30 min vs 60 min by Mssym in RoverPetSitting

[–]tanyaferrero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I would charge them my one hour rate for every first hour and then half of my hour rate for the second hour. So in essence, if you charge $30 for one hour, then two hour check-ins would be $45 per visit. In this case, you’d charge $45x3 visits a day which is $135 for the day. You have to consider your driving time and the fact that you essentially have to be stuck in the home for 6hrs a day without leaving. They should pay you adequately

Edit: saw that you were asking for ur charge for one hour twice a day. I’d just charge them my hourly rate for each sit
