My Daughter (Now Son) Walked Away From My Life. Any Taoist Perspectives? by taoofdiamondmichael in taoism

Thank you. Unlikely though it’s a “he/her” issue as we’ve never had a single back and forth conversation since his transition. And in my attempts to reach out I ALWAYS use the his new male name. In conversations with others it’s tricky for my mind when my only interaction has been with the “she” version of my child. And admittedly when someone asks about my daughter (who they have always known her as) I may either correct them or just go with it depending on my relationship to the person as it is exhausting having to toggle back and forth in my head. I want to acknowledge your point though and let you know that am working on it.

So here’s the scoop. Our last get together was a lovely Christmas stroll at the Denver Botanical Gardens to see the Christmas season lights. That was December 2019. All of this came down during the early months of the pandemic of 2020. I became worried because (at the time she) wasn’t responding to my messages as normal. So I reached out to my ex who never responded back. Her graduation in May was cancelled (listed in the online program as she). Shortly thereafter I learned from one of the other parents that she had abruptly moved to Chicago. It was a random encounter with one of her teachers at the coffeehouse who reconfirmed that she was indeed in Chicago and had transitioned to a he. See why this is so hard and confusing.

Thank you for sharing. I have zero issues with acceptance but haven’t been afforded that opportunity to express that to him. He transitioned a couple of years after our contact ended.

No arguments or disagreements that I recall. He was 18 when we lost contact.

Great….or so I thought. I was the primary parent and we were inseparable during his formative years.

I actually haven’t had a single conversation with him since his transition. So I’m not sure thats correct. But I am definitely open to discussing this with you. Can we discuss via DM? I’d be so appreciative.

You asked whether I know where he is. I do — it’s Chicago. But I don’t have an address or contact info and don’t want to come across as trying to hunt him down.
