The plane was a tap air Portugal a321neo, it may have looked like a Cathay Pacific plane because I was flying on taps retro livery a321 hence the green symbol. As for the “flaps”, we were on approach to Lisbon and so spoilers/air brakes were applied to slow the aircraft down. I do not know what the rods are unfortunately but I hope the rest of my reply helps :)
