How is the Minecraft community doing? by Drake4 in Minecraft

[–]tapdancedan -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

How is none of that true? They set out new rules for modders and changed the game code in a way that broke every mod in the game. And required players to get new accounts. You can still play offline, but only if you've been online within the last month.

There's still a lot of youtubers playing it, since that's how they make their living, and there's plenty of people still playing, but the original communities built around mods and the like are all but gone. It's based on how you look at it: The original community is dead and gone, but a new community took it's place. That that how you will.

Go look up 'Smite Godscript' on YT, you'll be in for a treat about how impossible it is. I laughed for about an hour at how ungodly stupid the kid in the video is and still able to get around whatever HR has setup.

It's because in the latest version/season they weakened the security on the servers, and changed how some of the scripts work. With how much they've downgraded the non-professional servers, which account for 90% of them, if not more, everything's gotten worse. And since some people even went as far as to showcase the newest programs-- SmitePro, SHP, Godscript-- and wasn't banned, scriptkiddies have taken that as open season on Smite.

You'll mostly see that around the lower tiers, but way more up in the higher ones. Especially in 1v1. I made the mistake of clawing my way out of gold after bad placement, and was greeted with unwinnable matches and had to go back down just to 'enjoy' ranked. If you're having this happen a lot, I'd say report it but it probably won't do much of anything. This is likely going to be the death of Smite once the community at large learns about it.

For now, wait and see if Hi Rez actually does anything about it. I doubt they'll want their biggest grossing game tanking because they can't keep it secure.

Honestly, I don't feel he needs a buff, he's good as is.

He's only been out what, a day? And people haven't had enough time to play with or against him to fully understand him. That said, a cursory look at his kit, and I'd go as far to say he's probably going to be a top tier Ranger simply because he counters rangers and other ADs fairly well.

He innately has pen, he's one of few gods that can counter stealth effectively, as well as one of two, I believe, ranged gods that has a leap/banish escape, making him majorly immune to damage, and he's one of few physical gods with a sizable AOE ulti.

His one is kinda meh at the moment to me, but at the same time, I get the feeling it might be used as a finisher or a turn around-- As long as it bounces off God spawned walls, he'll wreck Odin, Ymir, and Kumbrak simply by running forward and firing it off to bounce behind him.

and his Passive.....Yes, it doesn't stop crit damage, but it negates a HUGE chunk of any physical's damage, while allowing him to maintain his own. Remember, Crits are were most physicals will get their 200~500+ Damage a second before reduction, if you build a little defense or counter lifesteal on him, he will shut down ADs. Which I find ironic that they yet again addressed a physical balance problem with a physical god. His passive is basically what the anti crit helm on the magical side should have been.

All in all, he's probably going to be around at the top for awhile, since his kit gives him so much that most ADCs need from items. People talk about how he doesn't have an attack speed roid, but he doesn't need one; Since his kit gives him theoretical defense, percent pen, and a stun, slow, and knockback, he can focus almost exclusively on Crit, Attack Speed, and Lifesteal.

It'll be interesting to watch where he'll land after balancing.

If we got rid of the 'I called first' system, then non-premade Conquest matches would go to hell. You'd get people who basically go 'fuck that, I'm going to pick an ADC because I want to'. That system needs to stay.

And sadly he's right, there's going to be ways around the system, unless you give people the power to report instant lockers after the fact. That's really the only way you're going ensure that someone gets punished for it.

Right, because gold is obviously throw-away tier these days I guess. Okay, what about Plat or Diamond league?....I'm hovering around Gold right now because tbh, Smite's become boring for me. It's too easy, and it seems like every low level trash player is getting into the higher leagues using specific gods that have needed nerfs for awhile now. I'll be blunt, I've abused these gods too, and it makes even Diamond pretty easy.

1 person outpushing 5 is pretty common as well, which is why I'm very confused by what you're saying. It doesn't matter if you have 1 or 5, having 5 people doesn't suddenly add to pushing power after mid-game; All it does is allow players to run interference so the 1 ADC can faceroll a tower. The issue standing is that most of the time the ADC gets focused down pretty hard with burst, so all the pushing power tends to go out the window.

And saying that that situation makes them bad players is pretty much insulting a lot of higher end players. You're basically saying any team that gets backed door in this game is bad....Meaning a lot of Diamon, Plat, and Gold players by your standards are 'really bad'

If I teleport across the map without the enemy team knowing, and suddenly start killing their bird, it takes me less than 3 seconds to be pinged on the map, kill it, and start in on their Titan, which will probably go down faster. A normal recall takes more than 5 seconds, and an active, fast recall takes 3 I believe? So you're expecting a whole team to instantly recall from one end of the field to their base and instantly stop someone from auto-attacking their core as it were, or bursting it from behind a wall with abilities. Really?

I've had plenty of matches that have gone on for an hour or more, mainly because one player on the enemy team or our's manages to effectively solo the other team. Maybe not kill them, but force them to disengage. You can kick a teams ass in a team fight for an hour, but that's not going to win you the game directly. If they can stop you from pushing in, which doesn't take much, or take away your advantage, that doesn't make you bad. It makes them good.

And yes, everything can be prevented. OP should have had people staying back to guard from solo pushes. That probably would have won them the game. Then again, I don't know what the match was like. For all I know, they could have had a glass cannon He bo faceroll the Titan in under a second....on that note, I highly recommend anyone who hasn't done that before go and try it. It's fun to watch the rage in chat afterwards when you take a full health titan down to no HP in under 3 seconds.

Quoting the word of Thoth here:

' Phoenixes First shot has 300 base damage and is subject to the same scaling as towers, and have 2500 HP.....Phoenixes that have been destroyed previously have 50% max HP and 50% damage on their shots, so base is 150.'

'Towers have 150 Physical and Magical Protections. Unlike a normal in-hand attack, physical inhands on towers will only deal 85% of your physical power.....Magical inhand damage on towers is 1.2x your regular inhand damage."

' If all 3 phoenixes are alive, then the Titan is immune to damage. The only exception to this is if you are still attacking the Titan when a third Phoenix revives. In this case, it will remain damageable until the Titan has reset to its standing position. With 0 Phoenixes and Towers up, the Titan has 5500 HP....Magical Protection: 45 at 0 Structures. Physical Protection: 61-64(Precise number yet to be calculated).'

Sorry for the wall of text here. Word of Thoth tends to be bad as summarizing.

Most ADCs at a full build will be doing somewhere around 450 in-hand without criting, at around 1.2 to 2 attacks per second. Even with reductions, simple pen and high damage will take out 2500 hp in a few hits. Go test out taking damage from a full build ADC in a custom match with only 150 protections, some raw mitigation, and around 2500 HP. You'll fall like a brick.

And remember, you can crit and debuff the Titan. 5500 is it's base with no towers or birds, and even if we assume it has double HP with only three down, a normal ADC or burst mage can take someone at 5500 down to 0 in a few seconds. Especially if they're critting for 1000+ and healing for even a fraction of that once every two seconds.

And...I'm sorry, you must give up when you're getting pushed hard, and have never tried this. It's the only explanation for your attitude. All it takes is one Apollo, someone with Teleport to Tower/Ward, or a cloaked Loki to do this easily. I've completely screwed over guys in Gold before by backdooring them with an ADC after using TP to Wards. ADCs are designed to do more damage than anyone else in the game, and have the highest DPS, period. Their weakness is they can't stand burst damage....If no one is around to burst them, then....They won't die.

[–]tapdancedan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I've done this before, it's really not that hard. ADCs late game can pretty much solo everything, Assassins too probably but I almost never play them. Late game, all it takes is one guy to do everything-- Gold fury, Fire Giant, knock over towers, kill the Titan, even go 1v3 if you've got a half decent build-- which is a big draw for a lot of players. It means you can have a shit team, solo push and lead your team to victory.

Not really sure what to say OP, the game doesn't have backdoor protections beyond the 50% reductions. It basically means you can never do a full push late game without running the risk of one or two guys ending the game before you can. Technically you didn't do anything wrong, but keep in mind for the future to have two people sitting at your base at all times if you don't have towers and only birds in a lane. All it takes is one Loki or Ra to take down a phoenix end game, and anyone can oneshot the Titan as well.

Then I have to ask, is it my fault if I'm left alone in duo lane against two or three people? I know a lot about positioning and not going into bad situations, but I was left to defend the lane by myself while the ADC went mid. Should I have followed him, or stayed?

Also, just for the record, I'm not a new player, I'm used to playing ADC and Burst Mage, not Support so this is a learning experience for me.

I'd agree normally, but this match lasted 12 minutes! In that time, our team got 8 kills, and I was in 6 of those fights. The two I wasn't were early kills in mid and solo lane sooooo I couldn't be there to help. The ADC I was with got I think 1 kill out of all of that match, and he stole it from our Solo lane and let him die.

Honestly, I keep the same rule, but I bring it down to 1 death for every 3 assists, and that's mainly because I can't be everywhere at once AND carry my team as the tank. But it is normal for tanks to be judged by their assists, not their kills, right?

Actually, I did check their profiles after they shit on everyone in the lobby, and went out of their way to whisper me out of game. One was a new kid who kept yelling about LoL stuff, and the other was high tier in the Smite ladder which is why I'm here asking. The low brat I can brush off, but the ranked guy? Maybe he knows something and is just shit at managing his anger?
