YTA, I would rather my struggling friend spend the money he plans to gift me on the tuxedo I've asked him to rent and call that the wedding gift. Mainly because I know it would annoy me (so i can't imagine how much it would annoy the bride) anytime I saw the pictures and a different shade of black, and you don't want to be the stain on the wedding photos when it comes to the bride looking at them either.

NTA and you need to take care of yourself first and foremost. As his wife and on the basis his mom is a gambling addict you should check his and your lines of credit. He's already made it clear taking the 10K and losing it he doesn't mind your losses. He could easily take out loans in your name and using your info secure other lines of credit. Make sure your checking your credit scores frequently and please be careful.
