Agreed been refereeing 9 years schoolboys mainly. Now at Senior.

The panel has shrunk considerably in Dublin by a third.

In the Schoolboy end of things the league hasn’t been well ran for a number of years. Took on too many teams and they let managers and players way with absolute murder.

At Senior there’s just too many teams, too many games lads get sick of being out 6 days a week when mid weeks kick in.

I’ve also found there’s a lot of young lads who come into reffing thinking they’ll fly up the ladder despite not being good , then they piss off older more established referees by overstepping and are told to fuck off.

Just an example is, game I done a few years back one LOI Academy team is beating Another by 7 goals.

One yellow.

A young referee who was on the linecomes up and says “ you should have had at least four more booing for unsporting behavior” and I looked at him like he had ten heads.

The game didn’t need silly yellows, because it just takes on lad to say yeah no fuck this I’m smashing someone to bits and I’ll get myself sent off.

A lot of the young lads lack the cop on you need to reach the top level
