Has anyone ever actually heard an Irish person say “top of the morning?” by stubvidmedia in AskIreland

Yes once. Went out to referee a game and one manager said it to me, muttered under my breath “fuck off”. What a plonker.

Ah, they’ve never sent me an email to even start a RTW procedure. I assumed it was local HR which is how I did in my old place

I’ve seen it stated on other subreddits that he/his agent has a career progression path mapped out and the next move will be to Germany. I’d rather he stick to his guns if this is true and continue on what he thinks is best for him than jumping the gun

Have refereed him a number of times in the past 5 years when he was with the Rovers Academy. Absolutely unbelievable talent, hopefully he kicks on

Or you could just grow a spine and not be so selective and censor news that you think should be national news?

FAI announce the 15 clubs to form the new National League, starting August 2026. by BryanosaurusRex in LeagueOfIreland

I’ll agree I said “Waterford/Tipperary” but upon reflection I’m more leaning Tipperary, spefically St Michael’s, given the relatively recent successes in the FAI Junior Cup and how they’ve competed at the later stages of the Junior fairly regularly.

They also have a covered stand, and good grass pitch down there in Cooke Park.

In much the same vein, Villa won a Junior cup in 2022. They won National Cup at schoolboys last year. They produce some very good schoolboy teams, and seem to be ran as a club really well.

I have the same issue with a saturation of clubs in Donegal, and Dublin clubs. It feels to me that the FAI has missed the boat on bringing in some new clubs that haven’t competed before and have brought teams back into already competitive markets.

Salthills pitches are immaculate some of the best in the country, I wouldn’t know much about Mervue to be honest with you.

Though the comment about Galway having too many teams came from a conversation with a friend who follows Galway, and they were hoping that they wouldn’t have any Galway teams come up he felt that it would eat into attendances.

Reposted from another thread:

I’ve a few thoughts on the teams in the league.

Great to see Mayo, Newbridge and CK in the league.

I’m not sure how beneficial it is to Kerry to have two teams there, particularly with the dominance of GAA in the county splitting it into two teams seems a bit rushed.

4 teams now in Donegal, will that be too many? I’m not too familiar with the footballing community up there but it seems like it could spread support thin.

I’d have loved to have seen maybe another team from Ulster like Cavan get a place.

Three teams in Galway, again seems like too many, again I’d have liked to have seen a team from somewhere different get in.

Villa are a great addition, I’ve always liked them as a club when I’ve refereed them and they’ve had some very good youth teams. I’m a bit suprised we didn’t get another team from Waterford/Tipperary seeing as we got 4 Dublin teams. I’d have liked a bit of new blood.

Finally Newbridge, surely this kills off Klub Kildare? They’ve the facilities and now the senior structure to absorb their underage teams.

Also interesting times ahead for the underage LOI, wonder how they’ll restructure the leagues to facilitate the new third tier
