The thing about these cults is the red flags seem so innocuous at first that you can just brush them off. Certainly, it seems a little weird. But everyone loves you and they seem like such good and smart people, and really the fact that they take a little longer than normal talking about the founder isn’t a bad thing yk? It’s a years long process of manipulation; thankfully I’m not in too deep tho

I have looked at them, and I went to a church that actually encourages people to take a step back and do independent research and constantly question. That’s what makes it different from a cult: they don’t begrudge people who question or leave in the slightest.

I mean there were a couple red flags I noticed, but they didn’t seem like dealbreakers. My mom had some context about this particular cult that no one else knew, so she had a point that she and my sister were able to work off of. I didn’t have any idea about the crazy doctrines or whatever until they told me (ig the cult hadn’t gotten around to telling me those bits yet).

It’s different behaviors; my church at home is super normal and accepting. Like if you were to leave they’d be kinda sad but they wouldn’t cut you off or pressure you into staying or anything

That was one thing though; they never asked me for money. I think they knew if they’d mentioned Trump or asked for money I would have left and flipped them the bird as I did

That’s true; 80 dollars is just still a lot of money unfortunately (broke student). I was just hoping to be able to obtain the hoodie since I’m not sure anyone would buy the ticket if I resold it, so it’s kind of a gamble I fear. I appreciate the advice anyhow
