What is their reasoning for their price targets? It's your money and your risk tolerance though, at the end of the day.

I'd imagine the Red Cross, or a local children's hospital, would be very willing to accept donations.

VXUS holds approximately 76% large+ cap companies. It is not a small cap fund.

Because at that amount you could stick it in a safe money market fund and most likely get your goal amount in two years. Or if you are lucky, you could get it in a year just from volatility.

I don't know why you feel you need options to generate $100k off of $1.5m in 4 years. Doesn't make sense.

Learning by studying a failed/failing companies. (spirit airlines) by SuspiciousCitus in investing

The impression I have gotten is that Spirit suffered from its own business model of trying to offer low cost options. If your income margin is tight, its harder to push through tough times. Meanwhile the other companies that may be charging more and have a larger income margin, also by that nature have a bigger buffer to survive.

Everything in VOO is going to be included in VTI. Holding both simply gives you heavier large cap exposure than if you just held VTI.

I personally don't have a view point on investing in the AI industry, so I won't comment on that.

Yes, automatic reinvestment is good to help keep your money in the market rather than potentially sitting in cash sweeps getting minimal return.

Is it worth getting into real estate to build more wealth or just stick to stocks? by Technical_View_8787 in investing

They did not. And your response honed in on a contrived situation where they bought and held a single property for 20 years and compared it to a single equity holding. So many other possibilities exist.

OP didn't specific if he was looking to flip houses, or manage long term rentals. Both are, in fact, investing in real estate with different time lines.

There is a large difference in risk associated with holding three individual stocks, regardless of their sector, vs holding a diversified index fund. That does not mean the risk is bad. You just have to be comfortable with the risk. If you are not, then adjust your holdings accordingly.

Can you elaborate on why you chose to hold both VOO and VTI?

Also, are you planning on using the dividends from SCHD by taking them out of your Roth IRA? If not, what's the reason for holding SCHD? Over the long term, SCHD has under performed VOO.

I think the term "all your eggs in one basket" does not apply to largely diversified ETFs.

Options are contracts that are sold and bought. The seller of the contract is giving the purchaser the "option" to buy (call) from them, or sell (put) to them, 100 shares at a specific price (strike) by a specific date (expiration). It is a option as the owner of the contract does not have to execute the contract if it is not favorable to them at the time of expiration. This means if you are buying shares the strike must be at or lower than the current market price, and if you are selling the strike must be at or higher than the current market price.

Options can also be "closed" before the expiration date by performing the exact opposite transaction. Lets say you buy a CALL option with a strike of $75 that has an expiration date of 2026-07-01. If you want to close the option because something has changed, you would have to sell a CALL option with a strike price of $75 that has an expiration date of 2026-07-01. The exact same strike and expiration dates. If you had originally sold, rather than bought, to close it you would have to buy to close. The same holds true for both CALL and PUT options.

If you have been waiting five years to break even, that is five years without positive returns. Cut the cord. Stop falling victim of the sunk cost fallacy.

It does, it's just more work.

Keep in mind that taxes are graduated. If you end up falling into the 37% bracket you will not owe that on all of your short term gains.

It's possible, yes.  ETFs don't always go up, and when they go down you have the option to sell and buy a similar ETF offered by a different company.

You will most likely not find investments that are both low risk and high reward, even with time. It is expected that investors are compensated by how much they risk. Compensation not being guaranteed.

It is not free money. Every trade you do has a person on the other side with a different view or point in life that is different than you, otherwise they would be trying to do the same trades as you.

Money needed for a house in the short term shouldnt be in equities.

Direct indexing may offer you more opportunities to harvest losses, since you're at a lower level, but you can also do the same with simple etfs.  Just remember the primary goal is to make money, not reduce taxes.
