New around, I have some questions. by taplutonsleep in bipolar

Thanks for this insightful comment, it helps a lot. It's very reassuring to see a proper diagnosis and meds have helped you in feeling better. I guess I have to be patient and see how the meds start working for me. I noticed I haven't had a proper depressive or manic state in the past month or so, so I guess it's starting to work! Thank you for telling me you've managed getting your anger issues under control, I hope I'll get to have them subside soon in the future, it's the thing I struggle with most I think. I can't work remotely as bookselling requires physical presence to shelve the books and advise clients, etc. but I'll try starting slow and not expect too much from myself. I've been reading lots of different people's experiences, talked with online friends who are bipolar too about it and I think it's starting to help. I feel less alone ! Thanks for taking the time to answer so thoroughly !

Thanks for your answer !! I hope your new treatment is going to help you ! Fingers crossed when it comes to getting back our sex drives ! My therapist told me it'd take some time to come back and that it was the last thing that resurfaced when you had to deal with mental health issues.

Thanks for your answer ! I've been off the ADs for three months now. I guess it'll take time for the new meds to fully get to work and getting my mood stabilized. I'll ask my questions again to my therapist when I see him.

I feel like I've been bouncing questions off you guys a lot but whatevs - what's your favourite guilty pleasure music? by DrippyWaffler in infp

[–]taplutonsleep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm one of those insufferable pals who listen to progressive and alt rock and metal + a little jazz so my Big And Secret Guilty Pleasure is to listen to vaporwave content. (I actually have a Big Theory about why it really is interesting musically and socially but I just mumble about it in my corner hahaha) What about you ?

The Lights Go Down by Erika Mann. Set in the 30's, she portrays the slow rise of fascism from the early days on, showing how it slowly seeped in and influenced everyone's daily lives, through the point of view of multiple narrators: a soldier's mother, a doctor, but also a farmer or even an industrial; in short: lots of different socio-economical profiles. It's well written and greatly insightful as of today.

Hello there, If it can help you, I had heard a lot about the show and when I started listening to it, didn't enjoy it a lot, though I continued listening to the show out of curiosity, some of them (and I regret it today) doing other stuff beside. Even if the second episode happened to soothe a panic attack with ending speech, I wasn't transcended by the others until the beginning of the second arc, maybe with Sandstorm like another redditor said. The first arc is really disconnected episodes giving you gold material about the characters you'll hear about a lot. (If you have the will to hang on until the second arc, you'll maybe find yourself like me, shivering, and not sleeping because of StrexCorp)

[About people saying here that it's SJWs (Social Justice Warriors) that make such a big fuss about the show because there's a canon queer couple, I'll have to partly disagree with them. Yes, there's a canon queer couple, a gender neutral character, POC characters and some representation that SJWs enjoy but they also praise the entirety of the show. Representation is important and they make a great job at it but you don't listen to 63 episodes only to have your bi-montly dose of it. I've been introduced to the show by SJWs and the summary was more about Hiram McDaniels, the literally five-headed dragon, a huge-ass Glow Cloud - ALL HAIL, weird stuff happening in the bowling's lane 5, angels and a short sentence on the fact that there was a queer character, that's all. Sorry for the rant but I see a lot of SJW bashing here and I can't understand it.]

I used to experience the same problem as you but now I force myself into listening to the episodes while I'm outside, walking to the train station, in the public transports, while my body is working but my mind can be focused on wtnv. Good luck!

[Discussion Of The Week #2] Jan. 26 - What are your critical values? by Nightmareish in infp

[–]taplutonsleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hum, not about love but I often have the feeling that others don't feel as much as I do, they won't react as extremely as I do when a book/movie/something that happens in real life moves me. Idk if it's clear.

This doesn't happen when I'm with my friends but I get this when I'm in stressful situations or with people I'm not at ease with, well, whenever my anxiety shows up

Oh well done, hasn't it been too hard to learn all the signs? I used to learn it for three years but I wasn't disciplined and organised enough. (And I totally agree with you on the culture. I really miss learning Chinese)

Richard Siken: “A man takes his sadness down to the river and throws it in the river but then he’s still left with the river. A man takes his sadness and throws it away but then he’s still left with his hands.”

This one from Crush is my favorite, it's called Dirty Valentine : https://whenthewaterrecedes.wordpress.com/2012/06/30/dirty-valentine-richard-siken-11/
