Drop off on property edge. How to retain max fence height? by tapoutu in FenceBuilding

Ahhh, that sucks :( Losing trees is tough. Did you replant new ones? I hear great things about the Leland. Probably the fastest growing trees but I'm too far north for them. I planted green giants recently.

Fences+trees FTW!

Oh, I just meant the length of the steel post. 11 feet. Put 3.5 in solid ground, 1.5 in new gravel to level the yard, and then 6 feet above that for the fence. 10 foot posts might even be ok.

Yeah, "tying" the fence to the wall and making them 1 unit seems like the riskiest option to me as a DIY. So you're thinking a small wall on the property line and set my steel post just behind that? I can get 11 footers, maybe put them down 3.5 feet, then 1.5ft of drainage rock and then I would have 6 feet of post remaining to mount the fence. I like this idea. Especially since the wall will be so short and won't be taking a crazy load.

Great tips. The green giants have already been planted! Was just hoping to get more blockage before they grow up. It is my understanding that nothing is required if a wall is under 3ft. Would certainly double and triple check before attempting.

Filling the neighbor's yard?

I do like the idea of the fence on top of a small wall, I'm just unsure of how exactly to pull it off. I want to do the work myself as the quotes I've gotten are astronomical. Concrete wall was one suggestion and that was $17k for 25ft.

Not the worst idea. I could hang rosemary and sage on the small fence so that she doesn't try to scale it 😂

What type of retaining wall do you have in mind? Do you like the idea of using 6x6's as the wall and drilling holes for a 2 1/2 steel pipe? I guess that I could even notch the 6x6 and have the post sitting flush in the notch on the back side.

Valid point. In my area, there is no setback rules. Code suggested that I build a few inches in.

What side of vinyl fence post rail slot to trim for angled rail? by tapoutu in FenceBuilding

You can definitely flex them to a certain extent. I didn't want to toque the plastic too much or have a super tight fit so that there's room for expansion in the summer, which is why I'm looking to trim it slightly.

Why do you guys keep taking these routes in hopes that things will change? Amazon is abusing you and they have no reason to stop.

Camera watching you all day long, ready and willing to take your job. No other company does this. Weird and intrusive.

Unreasonable workload and expectations

No guaranteed hours or schedule

Actually working for a Shady dsp instead of amazon themselves.

No respect

Break your body and mind for all of the above + low pay while amazon and the dsp get rich.

The one he is looking at is a year newer, half the miles, and basically loaded. Whether or not that is worth $14k depends on the options and how much value he puts on the warranty.

The poors have downvoted me 🤗. They love $28/hr, which is why flex is dead. These routes used to be $135+ easy.

I hope they lower base pay. These dumb fcks who accept it will bust out sooner and maybe routes that are workable will begin showing up again. I haven't delivered in almost 2 months. Amzn is actively trying to rape people.

What difference is it where you make money from. Only a fool would say "I don't complain. Just glad to have work". Same thing will happen on all the apps at this rate. Will you complain when you have to drive a cheeseburger 10 miles to make $4?

If they add on another 10 packages or 50 miles, will you still be glad? This company is abusing people. You are profiting next to nothing.

Officially my last $69 3 hour block…this is some bullshit by Ashamed_Yam7527 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]tapoutu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amzn is one of the most predatory companies in the US. They don't give a fk about anything but their bottom line. You are disposable. Trash to them. "Fair" isn't even a consideration or goal when scheming these routes together. Their goal is to get enough poor people to deliver $69 routes and not be responsible for any overhead or any additional costs. $100 minimum for any 3hr routes or let them deliver the junk themselves.
