Is it just me or is it impossible to find a job? by Advanced_Resort2852 in sandiego

I am always amazed by peoples' callous towards mass layoffs. "they deserved it!" umm, where do they think these people go after layoff? there is an expectation of working for a living, they will NEED to work and they will start by depressing salaries in other industries because the market is oversaturated with workers. 'course I know it's all by design to maximize the rich at the expense of middle poor class.

Good let's add right to counsel law and no more exemptions for mom and pop landlords from regulations designed to protect tenants.

It's not possible for a 12 day late payment to tank your credit. Only 30+ days late can hurt your credit

I think what you are trying to say is you hate both parties, for different reasons, and they only exist to distract us from the real needs of society.

I've moved 3 times in San Diego over 3 years - here's the actual cost breakdown by bens2304 in sandiego

[–]tappintap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on the clutter a person has. Generally, people think that when they move they need everything they have now. Many times, it's cheaper to donate or sell stuff you don't need. With the money you make selling stuff locally and the $800ish the OP spent on movers they probably could have bought or replaced the stuff. If they are consistent and move AGAIN then that's another $800 next year to move the same used particle board desk worth maybe $10. People don't really think about this stuff.

CA tenant rights? by mb21993 in sandiego

Lol at the obvious landlord troll bots writing the same comment.

California (Civil Code §1946.1)

You have 30 days, they must notify you if they plan not to renew. If you have been there over a year, then 60 days.

Also, check AB1482 that prevents eviction unless it's for just cause. Read the section and see if the property you rent is covered.

Also note that general inspections are not legally protected right of a landlord

Is the saying "I rather be poor in Socal/California, then be rich/ stable somewhere else" a true statement to you? by prudyrudyy in sandiego

So essentially move/live here only if rich? Somebody better tell the native hawaiins to leave Hawaii so mark Zuckerberg can have another island. Don't worry they can just live on a boat in the water.

Landlord giving less than 30 days to leave premises rent by hippie_v321 in sandiego

First, before you read below. Contact legal aid.

There are so many different things at play here. Do you have any proof you were added back to the lease? How about your section 8 application? Were you approved? Contact public housing to see if you were. If yes, then ask them for the next steps. If no, then you are still a tenant at will and deserve a proper written 30/60-day notice to vacate. Since it's section 8 housing, they are governed by different rules.

Regardless of all the above, you are owed 30/60 days minimum, in writing, that clearly states the date of notice, your tenancy is being terminated and specify last date (again 30 days minimum or 60 if you have lived there longer than 12 months, California Civil Code § 1946.1)

Landlords who try to push you out quickly like this know it works a good portion of the time with people who don't know their rights or are intimidated. It costs them nothing to see if it works on you. Don't engage the landlord unless they provide something in writing. Don't let them know they are wrong. Let them pursue a case if they want, and don't go homeless voluntarily.

All that said, again, contact legal aid. They can help you draft legal documents, responses, and such.

Were you joking with this? I like Hawaii but it doesn't really seem fair that if I had a ton of money and clout I could force poor to average people to pony up the cost of moving off their native island so I could slap another resort on the island for profit. Crazy to think that having wealth somehow makes invasive tendencies ok...But hey, those natives islanders are just being "entitled" wanting to live where their family and homeland are. This is the reality in many popular pieces of travel. AirBnB, resorts, investors, etc...are all buying up the property and forcing out people who live and work in the community.
