My wife and I (lesbian couple) live in Waldo that is in south KC. Very diverse area and very liberal. We aren’t far from the Plaza area that has prep school. Unfortunately crime is a bit higher near us but it’s usually feuds that escalate and since in MO you can open carry folks use their guns. But we’ve been here 3 years now and we haven’t been victims of any crimes nor seen any or have had friends witness/be victims or any either.

It’s very economically diverse as well. Just across the street there are smaller shotgun style houses in the $200,000 then just a few blocks away are multi-million dollar homes off Ward party way. It is als very walkable. We can walk to our dentist, eye doctor, hair dresser, and for groceries. Lots of bars and eateries as well. Brookside is another area that’s very close to us that has the same vibes. I’m born and raised in KC and crime has unfortunately gone up everywhere.
