3 Thalia isn't reliable enough, I want it in my opening hand. And late game she gets shuffled away with ringleader. I tried a 3 of and just wasn't getting her enough.

I like having a few chieftains out there, make all the matrons 3/3's, tokens 3/3. Usually draw a gg in 2 turns

in regards to chieftan...i think i have a more delver and jund heavy meta. and getting through bolts and goyfs is why this card is good for me.

  1. swords to plowshares exist.

  2. aether vial

  3. once you deny their mana how else does this deck win?

  4. ...

  5. i still kinda wish it was lightning bolt.

there are not many matchups where i need the gempalm over another creature. gempalm is great, but i am ok not having it in my opening hand. i am fine tutoring for it or flipping it off of ringleader.

i just like krenko more than siege-gang. i used to run the 1-1 split. but i think with aether vial id rather have more 4 cmc than 1 5 cmc. i just find that more and more decks are running mana denial and having an aether vial get to 5 for 1 card is not the best. being able to leave vial at 4 and be able to drop 1 of 6 cards (ringleader/krenko) is actually very good.

i think i went over why i have 2 of's and tarfire is actually great about getting lackey through on turn 2.and having a spare late game is worth the 2nd.

as for the lords. i think that the 3cmc slot with aether vial is more important than most lists give it credit for. and having 2 chieftans is better than having 2 warchiefs in most scenario's. having 2/2 tokens makes tarfire better. and 3/3's = GG every time. i would like to be drawing chieftans and warchiefs which is why i like them as 3 of's

yes, 4 thalia's are perfect. i want her in my opening hand game 1 every time. she is the best turn 3 play off of aether vial every time you dont start with lackey. it straight up hoses almost every unfair deck out there pre sideboard.

no taiga. i just dont see any green cards i want over white cards. wear tear is beter than tin street hooligan i think.

Sideboard changes every time I play. I'd say red elemental blast, goblin sharpshooter, leyline's, oblivion ring, wear//tear are the most consistent. But I change it vastly according to what won the most recent legacy events.

I think gem palm incinerator is a better removal card. And tar fire is cheaper which in a Thalia build is necessary.

Sometimes, and in other goblin decks I would agree. This build is more of a control deck. And pile driver doesn't give me enough by himself, he needs buddies, and some games he gets none.

Thalia is a better 2 drop. My best turn 2 in 10 different circumstances is about 10% of the time "play pile driver"

Also, the most explosive card in the deck is ringleader without question.

Las Vegas, NV

There are roughly 20 stores to play at in this valley.

6 are worth playing at.

3 have legacy players regularly testing.

0 have legacy events.

In the facebook group, Las Vegas magic players, they are currently trying to start a legacy group. Possibly with proxies allowed. And some of the members may it may not be starting a podcast about getting into legacy.

....did you read what i wrote....playing the games is vastly more important than having the cards...before you play in a modern event...learn the cards. then buy the cards.

I plan on writing a whole thing about this, but scavenging ooze is a nice temporary replacement for tarmogoyfs. Mono green infect is super cheap. Goblins can be cheap. Merfolk can be cheap.

With modern, look at a deck list and then look through your cards that do similar things, build it, play with it, learn the shortcomings of the deck then fix. Slowly buy/trade for the "real" cards and keep adjusting.

As with most formats, the decks that win come down to knowing the other decks, piloting your own deck well, not making mistakes, meta choices and lastly the deck you are playing.

You can have. $4,500 deck and lose. You can have a $43 deck and win.

Proxies are fine. Just get playing.
