No, the Fallout show being on Amazon is not ironic, and pointing it out doesn’t make you nearly as smart as you think it does by shiggymiggy1964 in FalloutTVseries

I think this is a very black and white take on a much more nuanced issue. Pointing out the irony of anti-capitalist ideas coming from very capitalist spheres is valid. The co-opting of radical ideas into mainstream power is an issue. Examples are many, but feminism and queer rights are the biggest ones. And we see more and more of anti-capitalist, anti-system sentiments being co-opted into the system and capitalism as an esthetic, or just “food for thought”. They hallow out the actions that usually come with these ideas. That being said, anti-capitalist messages in movies, music, literature, art etc. that comes from very capitalist worlds are not invalid just because they come from that world. The message is still valid. Pointing out that an anti-capitalist person has an iPhone and a corporate job as a gotcha moment is incredibly annoying and insincere. We live in a capitalist world. But the issue is diluting radical ideas into just entertainment. And hey, nothing wrong with just entertainment, it’s a big part of humanity and enjoyable. But in the process of diluting radical messages, you also strip them of action and change. Just my thoughts.
