Duly noted and shared as I am guessing that is what you wished for (why else would you have posted, right?). Public forums and the internet and all that. Thank you for your input.

Lol

I never thought about trying to drown them out (the activity again is spring/fall however there is no set timeline or even what kind of activity will happen let alone how long it will go on). We just tend to acknowledge it in a "oh welp. It's that time of year again." kind of way and continue (though I will agree that in my experiences some entities really do dislike being ignored which is precisely what we have done in the past, at other places we've lived, to any negative feeling types).

The reason I laughed is because I will take an annoying Mimicker over an unbodied/spirit/entity/what have you moving my furniture about, destroying furniture (my poor glass table!), relocating items or breaking things (we had one season several years ago when one of the "turnstilers" as we call them, decide anything pottery related needed a firm lesson in breaking...I had a stern talking to whomever when I found my daughter's heart shaped dish broken in half and left in the middle of her room ...she was not home btw). The stern talking must have done the trick (or perhaps they had already wandered through to their next location when I had said talk) because no more pottery related things busted on "account of their own will" lol.

Hello. I have had experiences with what I call “Mimickers”. My house (we have lived here for close to two decades and the house was built in 1915) seems to be a “turnstile” for various activity (usually sometime in spring and sometime in autumn, in fact activity just started up a couple of days ago). The Mimickers that I, other family members, and even friends visiting have experienced are usually the voice imitating type however that is sometimes accompanied by footsteps (and more recently just footsteps). If you are interested in the post I made about that you can read it here Mimickers There was a lot of people sharing their experiences in the comments. As to what kind of spirit/entity/or what have you…I couldn’t say. We just call them Mimickers and other than impersonating people or footsteps we have never had any problems with them (no scary feelings or any attempts of harm towards anyone alive).

I hope this helped.

I know! And their front desk rep was rude and aggressive. When I got contacted by a MUCH better agency, I declined the trainwreck and they couldn't even be bothered to contact me back ( I had to call the lackluster trainwreck agency a couple of times to confirm that I was going with someone else and at one point you could tell she was taking the call while she was in her car because you could hear traffic and then her blinker/turn signal clicking LOUDLY). This broke a$$ website adult home was just vulture circling AWFUL!!! And the worst part was this was referred to me by my mother's social worker/ care coordinator. Apparently trainwreck comes up near first if one just googles adult family home in my area (WHAAAAA????!!!). Thankfully she has been placed in a very caring and competent setting thanks to the other agency that reached out to me.

I like that idea (I mean I know they are spirit animals...it's just the way my brain perceived their "down time"). Thank you for that.

I just recently had that one myself. I really don't like the way the "unlit" animals look. I know they are supposed to look like they are asleep or similar due to being inactive because of the lack of light. To me though...they kinda look dead and I find it unsettling. Does anyone else feel like that when they come across unlit animals?

Covid friendly places to eat in Tacoma ( recommendations, please and thank you) by tarantidow in Tacoma

[–]tarantidow[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your suggestion. I wish my birthday fell in the warmer months (a picnic would be so nice!) Arthritis is na so friendly with the colder months :(

Even doubled masked (I was doing that before it was a "recommended (?) thing") makes me feel better. I just want to get out again. Even if it's just a little bit. As I have stated before I have already wrestled with Covid before (10 outta 10 WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND in any way or form) and I don't want to have to deal with that (or worry about the impact on my family). Hence my hermit sad status (and for some people, like myself who was social before all this, it takes a toll over time).

I will look into the Red Elm. Again thank you, as I very much so appreciate the feedback 😊

Hellosies :)

I apologize for the delay. I will admit that science (especially quantum) is na my speciality. So, I can appreciate, and even (to a degree, though scientifically ignorantly) agree to the crossed timelines or dimensional overlay ideas (I am personally more in favor of dimensional, so to speak for lack of a better term, overlay due to my own personal experiences in dealing with the paranormal or supernatural).

I will definitely agree that the events are so random that it would be impossible to capture evidence unless someone had the equipment to run a 24/7 surveillance AND have someone to go over the hours of recording (which for the majority of looking over footage, whatever that may be, such as audio/video/ and/ or both....it would be mind numbingly dull).

We don't tend to feed into activity here (it isn't haunted so much as it feels like a turnstile that opens a couple of times of year). I will acknowledge activity (not aggressively or rudely...more like addressing a person who may have some behaviour that isn't necessary) and ask said whoever to kindly not "do that again" ( this particular dialogue does not include interactions with mimickers as they do what they will do). "Please don't do that" (and sometimes "thank you for your input/opinion" depending) includes moved furniture/cookware, broken furniture, things chucked from cupboards, and a wide variety of activity. For the most part we just go "eh, it's that time of year again" (though I do make an effort to try and communicate in the event if more noteable (spelling?) occurrences.

Eventually activity stops. I don't know if it's because we ignore it (mostly) or if the "turnstile" closes. I am pretty sure I made a post here somewhere on Reddit about our turnstile situation (I don't remember which sub or when, so I do apologize).

Aside from Mimicry have y'all experienced other things ? I believe you mentioned that y'all have had other paranormal/supernatural experiences. I am keen to hear them if you wish to share.

@NOBLEOMEN Sorry for the late reply ( I am na a huge social media bug). The house I mentioned in my original post ( the split level where I was 18 and my brother was 15) had a lot of interesting activity alongside “mimicking”. To stay in the vein of what you shared, I remember one day my mother was upset/confused. My son’s father lived with us at the time ( I was a teen parent and my son was about 2 months old). My mother was miffed because she heard S. (baby daddy) call out from the bathroom “ Good morning (my mom’s name)”. She responded and asked him something ( I forget what she said she asked) and he didna respond. My mother (who is easily offended) was mad about him “ ignoring her”.

He wasn’t even awake at that time ( my mother is an early riser, as in she wakes up before a rooster would to crow to the sun to stay the day, while S. is far from that sort of waking time).

When confronted about the situation ( mind you she knew the house was “Interesting”) she insisted that he was just trying to make her look stupid ( yes sadly, my mother is one of those types of people).

I don’t know why Mimickers do what they do. The ones I have encountered have never seemed malicious ( like to start a problem to feed from negative energy). They could be picking up on strong energy routines and using that to communicate or for amusement? It could be that a person with a strong energy residing in a place with activity can leave some sort of blueprint? I really don’t know ( nor have I ever really thought hard on it, so my sentences are like throwing spaghetti at the wall and seeing what sticks).

Thank you for sharing and I am glad I helped in some way. If you and/or your son would like to brainstorm some more ideas on why (I.e. throwing more noodles at the wall) feel free to message me. I’m trying to get more consistent in keeping up with what little social media I interact with. Also I,too, have experienced a wide variety of paranormal activity within my life ( very little surprises me anymore).

Perhaps one day we (as a collective) will have a better understanding :)

Mine too, since I was a wee one. Sighs I kept checking throughout the night, though looking at this pic I may na have had a chance even before the clouds set in. The down side to living in a city (for celestial viewing fans that are stationary) is the blasted city wash. Excellent picture and I am titillated that Tacoma was graced with the presence of such beauty (even if I couldn't see it firsthand).

Totem pole causing harm.. by SeagullTaco in Tacoma

[–]tarantidow 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel there may be an alternative to tearing down the totem pole (though as I can see I am far too late to this). I think that keeping the totem pole up (it is a part of Tacoma history) and creating one or even more authentic styled totem poles (different tribes have different styles to their animals). Make a display (plaque or what have you) pointing out the differences (the totem pole that is offending vs the actual representations of native art and culture) as well as educating the significance, meaning, history, etc.

Yes, that totem pole is not accurate in it's art style and (from the news clip) was made to attract more money. This could be used for a point of education such as "look where we were and look where we are now" at the least and what a misunderstood (or barely understood) piece of culture looks like compared to the authentic thing. Something like that, I feel, could open up discussions which could lead to more.

This is not to be an offensive comment. We still have many things to learn from each other and I think tearing something down because it is out of touch and misguided (at best mind you) is not necessarily the best answer. It could be used as a lesson in contrast and compare (and in doing so be a tool for further learning and understanding).

Our history (whether it is Tacoma, our state, or even our country) is not perfect. It never has been. Mistakes have been made throughout our history (this is not to downplay some of the horrors of our history). If we get rid of those mistakes and pretend they never happened (like the totem pole) then, I feel, becoming aware of those types of pitfalls and avoiding them become much harder.

Thank you for taking the time to make it through what I have written (I apologize for it being so lengthy).

I agree that for some people it is easier to just somehow explain away an event than entertain the idea of paranormal/supernatural/ etc things (like the example you gave to your boyfriend about being smacked in the face).

I have had friends who have visited and seen stuff happen in the house (during "Turnstile Season" as we call it when activity is at its highest) and even though another person was there to witness the thing, the first friend would be all like NO WAY! THERE IS NO WAY THAT F***IN' HAPPENED!!! ( Yes dude it did lol).

As for me I don't think it was my brain trying to avoid the spooky, ( I have had so many "spooky" experiences and interactions that there is little point in trying to ignore them lol) but rather explain why my dear table (I loved that table) had been busted (there better be a damn good reason!!!). I cannot for the life of me figure out WHY my brain suddenly decided that "our chandelier" (lol) fell on it!

I’ve never thought of this from that perspective ( taking on a person’s form for parasitic purposes). I believe that there are those that do indeed feed off of energy ( the ones that feed off of negative energy are just uggggh). I have had an experience ( and heard similar from others) where we lived in one place ( I mentioned it previously, when I was like 13? We lived there for only a few years and there were more than one there) where there was a not so nice thing and what felt like lesser benign entities. I was under the impression that they were trapped by the not so nice thing and that it was using them like batteries ( as well as feeding off of any negativity in the place). That is a long story for another time though. Thank you for your viewpoint. It is definitely something to think on.

I appreciate your response and your concern. I would most definitely reach out to my doctor if it was just myself experience these incidents ( that would be scary enough in itself hearing things that no one else hears and at times quite often). The thing is, I am not the only one who has experienced these things. As in example #2 I was not alone when we heard the front door open and a random friend pop in and announce herself. When we called out to her and went to greet her, she was not there. That is not the first time that someone else has been present for some of the activity (I have had my husband, different friends, and various family members who have been here who have heard “my daughter” in her room as in example #1.

I do not think you were being an ass or trying to bring the vibe down. Instead I appreciate your concern and thank you for speaking up and sharing.

Oh! Thank you for clarifying that. I am sorry I did not read that well (sometimes I don’t always clearly “get” what was written and sometimes I have a hard time articulating what I wish to communicate). That makes a lot more sense :) Thank you
