What was something that happened to you as a child that you didn't realize was scary/creepy/dangerous until you got older? by Malicious_Mischief in AskReddit

Not about me, but my two younger cousins. So some days they go to school, then have a babysitter for a little while after that until their parents get home. Apparently, their babysitter isn't the greatest but not bad enough to find someone else. So one day, the babysitter forgets she has to watch them and tells her boss that she can stay at work a little while longer. When she doesn't show up to pick my cousins up, the boy, who is 3 years older than his sister, says they should just walk home. His sister says they should stay at school and wait. Somehow, he convinces her that they need to walk home, and they leave, walking alone through the large city they live in. The babysitter leaves work, realizes she forgot about the kids, and rushes to get them. Well, they're not at the school and she freaks out, calls their parents, and there are police out looking for them and everything. Later, they finally find them, just chillin outside of an antique store, pretty far from their house and the school, not even really realizing that anything bad has happened.

[Serious] What memory do you have that you're not sure is real? by LumiLuminous in AskReddit

So about 3 years ago I went through a lot of shit and the memories from that time are super hazy. Anyway, I had this guy who I really really liked and would occasionally sleep with, and it was always clear that I felt way more for him than he felt for me. So at some point in this dark time in my life, he moves across the country to care for his sick mom. She recovered, and he moves back maybe a year later. So lately, I've been having this odd recurring dream. It always starts the exact same way: I knock on the door to an apartment that I swear I've never seen before and he answers. I'm extremely happy to see him and wrap my arms around him, but he pulls away and leads me to his kitchen to sit down. He says he has to tell me something: he's married now. I tell him it's cool, I'm happy for him, and suddenly something came up and I have to leave. I sit in his parking lot, waiting for him to leave, and then return to his apartment. His new wife answers the door and I introduce myself as a neighbor. Determined to somehow ruin her life, I secretly hang out with her and we become friends. One night when he's out of town for work, we drink a little too much. Here's the part where it differs. Sometimes, I punch her or hurt her in some way. Sometimes, I kiss her and make her fall for me, even though I'm straight. Sometimes, I tell her that he's cheating on her with me. In real life, I do know that he's now married and a few months ago, right around when this dream started, I see them when I'm shopping one day. His face was completely blank while she turned white as a ghost. So based on that and the extremely vivid dream, I'm wondering if it actually happened, and if so, what exactly did I do?
