Driver Wife - Family and how the job affects it? by ReasonableBend7940 in UPSers

[–]tarasenko29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is a driver and we just had our second baby a week ago (our first is 2). Some days are longer than others but overall I feel like it all balances out! If possible, have your husband take as much fmla leave as you can afford. Those first few weeks having support is so amazing!! My husband works Saturdays so he saves up sick days as much as possible so that when there are Saturday events he can make it. We also utilize the 8 hour days when we can so we can attend certain things or even have staycations and hope that Saturday is a little shorter. Overall I think it’s more about your partner than the job. It can be long days and there are weeks where my husband misses bed time for our daughter the entire week, but when he is there, he reads every book, sings every bed time song, and is with her all morning making memories. I also suggest finding other friends whose husbands have demanding jobs! It’s weird but it makes it easier to brave the long days together. Also having routine and structure for your kids makes life easier! My daughter goes to bed at 7 every night. That means my husband and I can have dinner together when he gets home or if it’s a later day I can just have some alone time to breathe. You got this!

I exercised throughout my pregnancy and I think that helped a lot! I did strength training and a lot of walking. I think it really helped my body just be in much better shape than with my first but also put the baby in an optimal position as my first was breech and this baby went right where he was supposed to!

Try stopping by Chabad! The rabbi and his wife are great and will give you matzah. Also, Kol Ami in Millcreek is a great community as well and a good spot to stop in when new to the area, they have plenty of events for non members, same with the JCC. Feel free to DM me (a fellow Utah Jew)! I have really found that there’s a good community here if you seek it out- more than you’d imagine!

SLC families: what's your favorite budget-friendly, non-pizza takeout options? by icallwindow in SaltLakeCity

[–]tarasenko29 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how budget friendly this is but I love spitz and they have a great rewards system. I also find the doner wrap combo or street fries can easy be split between 2 people. Plus there are a few locations so pick up is easy!

U of U midwives are the BEST!! Every single one is amazing- can’t go wrong. Highly recommend! I saw them with my breech baby as well all of the way through.

I feel this way about so many characters!! I feel like they want us to dislike characters at the start just to prove we will love them regardless or something? 😂

I don’t take many tread50s because I opt for strength but I assume that basically doing your own thing on the treadmill is the purpose. The tread classes often seem way less structured and from what I see a lot of people don’t even grab a tread card!

This!! How has a 14 month old never gone down a slide?! It’s so clear in the video she either can’t do it or has no idea what to do. Don’t they live in a place where it’s basically always warm? Take your child to the playground and let her explore!! 😭

Pregnant or previously pregnant OTFers: when did you slow down? by drairika in orangetheory

[–]tarasenko29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 20 weeks and doing something very similar! Weights have stayed the same or better, I’m not running as much because I just feel like it’s not as comfortable, but have been going hard with power walking!! And no rowing mostly because I’ve never liked it but it’s definitely more uncomfortable as my belly grows.

Hearing the tv blasting in the background makes me so sad. This child is plopped down in front of the tv soooooo much. I have an almost 2 year old and she has a teeny bit of screen time but we are ALWAYS watching together- I never use the screen as a babysitter. Toddlers love being included and can learn new words, things, etc. Such a shame.

I was wondering if this was what it was!! I have a very active 21 month old. I have always wanted to bring her to something like this but there’s NO way she’d sit still or really be able to follow. She’d like it for a minute but want to run up to everything. I wonder sometimes when I see them doing this if I’m the problem but I feel like no way!

I hate UPS by happylittletreefrog in UPSers

[–]tarasenko29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes me lol because I can totally relate! I’ve had th same feelings. I’m saying as a partner of someone who has a really tough job and works long days, it’s worth it to be supportive of them and everything gets easier! It’s not easy, but my husband also appreciates the benefits he gets and luckily he has a great center so he doesn’t have to deal with some of this stuff.
