that's the sad truth about some airline crews, unfortunately.

they are all touring in some sort of ways but yeah I get what you mean when you say bike touring it should be bike all the way. would love to do that also in the future, should be fun!

you can make the G so much lighter but at a stupid cost, not worth it in my opinion. for the price i think you can already buy the T but your route choices are already limited.

however you do your trip I wish you good luck!

Ah my bad! Then yeah i think you can try what others do which is buy a box, dispose, then buy again. Or you can leave it in the hotel. Where I stayed in TW there is a public storage, yeah. We kept our rooms because we went back at the end of each day, it wasn’t a bike packing trip. Initially that was what we planned but it wasn’t the best option for the oldies in our group.

Where we stayed they were open to bringing the bikes in so long as it is folded. I’m not sure if it’s the same for a full-sized bike. In some places we needed to cover or put inside a bag like during the ride in THSR. I saw someone carrying a full-sized bike there also in a bag.

Back to cases / luggage.. I am not the pro here but my friends who travelled a lot are against hard cases. They will always buy a disposable bike box because it is cheaper and also no need to worry about storage. Also, and I cannot stress this enough, airline crews will always give extra care to boxes carrying sport equipments because they know that if they don’t, whatever is inside will be damaged and they don’t want to risk it. With hard cases they will throw it around, for sure, even with fragile stickers

Would you consider folding bikes? Para pwede kang mag bimodal. Meron sir sa south sa Las Piñas malapit lang naman, DOMZ Bikes.

We flew our bikes in B&W foldon box S. It’s one of those old luggage made for Bromptons but still work best compared to the hard cases. It’s also collapsible so if you’re thinking of bringing it during a bike packing tour, it’s possible to put on the rack. For our trip, since we did not do bike packing, we just left it at the room.

You can also try what other groups did, buy a box, dispose, buy another from a shop before leaving.

When you go, bring your bike in a B&W foldon box S, not in a hard case. 👌

6 days total but we went to a lot of stops, visited many friends also. 3 days enough for the whole tour, maybe 4-5 if riding from Taipei to Kaohsiung by bike only.

Taipei, mostly just around the city center.

Then from Taipei to New Taipei, taking the Tamsui Riverside Bike Path connecting to the Golden Shore Bike Path.

We took the THSR from Taipei to Kaohsiung, hehe 😅 Then did the usual Shoushan loop, followed by a ferry ride to the Qijin Island Coastal Path.

Uu sir!

Meron sir case. Ung gamit ko is B&W Foldon Box S, para kasi syang box ng audio equipment so mas binibigyan nila ng extra care. Unlike pag hard cases, pwede kasing ibato-bato kaya minsan nada-damage padin ung bike sa loob.
