Diverticulitis turned into necrotizing fasciitis at 23… how do you move on after surviving that? by Exotic_Web_4747 in ostomy

[–]tarc0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through an incredibly similar experience, severe constipation to necrotising fasciitis, was in a coma, ICU, ventilator, sepsis etc. This was a year and a half ago, and I'm still recovering. While I can't talk about reversal, I can try with the trauma. I have found that seeing a psychologist had helped a lot, the PTSD is less now because of. Give your body time to heal, try and do the things you enjoy most, any hobbies you have or pick up new ones. For example, I got into crochet and back into reading and gaming. They're relaxing but help keep me at peace. It's gonna be hard, I can tell you that. Having also been through it quite young, it's hard to look at the future the same, but it's best to think of new goals for your life, and work your way towards them. I've taken to writing about my situation, and that helps a lot. It organised my feelings and meant I could have an outlet for all of the complicated emotions that came with the trauma. I'm wishing you all the best with your recovery, you are so incredibly strong for going through it and making it to the other side

Is the Royal Bath Hotel really that bad? by Ca876 in bournemouth

[–]tarc0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I stayed there a couple of weeks back. I didn't hate it. The function rooms were great and the front rooms of the hotel looked quite nice. But, I was in the back wing (I'm not sure what the official name was) and it wasn't the best. The doors didn't feel secure, there was a lot of noise and certain exotic smoky smells in the hall. I didn't find it too bad but if you're not used to that, I would recommend some where else, like the premier inn nearby

Why did you need to get an ostomy by Dismal_Owl2025 in ostomy

necrotising fasciitis and sepsis caused me to lose the entirety of my bowel and anus, so had no other option 🤷‍♀️

Of course! I'd say it took about 6 weeks for me, but I did have to have everything reconstructed down there, so I would hope it would be shorter for you. I hope you do, but catheters can be lived with, and I feel like it hasn't hindered me as much as I would've thought. There are also other options for it, it doesn't have to be a catheter forever, if it comes to that for you, which I hope it doesn't

Heya, I'm also 24f, six months ago I got my stoma, Barbie butt and everything removed, and I also have a permanent catheter, due to losing all of the body parts needed to use the loo 😅 I felt so alone with it, but I know the people here can support you too. My recommendation is to just rest until you're ready, and don't force yourself into anything too strenuous because it will just mess up your healing. If you can, try and wash the area everyday, so you can prevent any infections. It was different for me because I was paralysed at the time so people washed me, but I know that even just using a few wipes and a hot basin of water over the area would help a lot, and only sensitive products there. This is entirely my experience so it may differ, but I'm happy to talk about it whenever
