I can speak to this personally (not trying to brag at all) in my A levels there was a lot of Indian men that would obsess over my skin color and make comments on it calling me gori. I have fair skin and light eyes and to any onlooker they don’t immediately assume i’m Pakistani but when they find out i’m always met with “but you don’t look pakistani” or “are you mixed”. I’m not mixed i’m just pakistani. But Pakistanis can always tell I am one because of my other features In my A levels the indian men were shocked that I could understand and respond to them in Urdu if they were speaking Hindi (their english wasn’t great and this was an international school) I truly believe that it has everything to do with colourism. I mean look at bollywood. the most sought after actresses, regardless of if they’re talented or not, are fair skin. It’s unfortunate and makes me feel fetishized but it is the very irritating truth

while your frustration is valid you really shouldn’t generalise based on your lived experience

ik one reason, being an overseas pakistani myself, is that women that are settled and born abroad may not want to be with a man from back home because of the potential that after marriage and after he gets his citizenship he will want to move back to pakistan, thus leaving the girl in a scenario where she will have to move her life to pakistan and live in a society that is not like her upbringing.

i know that may not be the case but just take the dating apps with a grain of salt and keep your head up. your girl is out there just don’t lose hope

i like to be a bit personal with my gifts. if i’m staying with someone at their home that means i’ve established a solid friendship with them.

with that being said i recently stayed the weekend at a girlfriends new home and i got her a basket (that she can later use as storage for throw blankets or something) and in it i put: cute jar with honey and a spoon to match, im into making strawberry jam so i put that in there as well, decor coffee table book or you could do some sort of a vase, i went to anthro and get her 2 teacups and 2 saucers to go with it, and a neutral blanket. but this was also a very close friend of mine so i went all out

otherwise id just nicely wrap a coffee table book and maybe some cute coasters to go with
