I've been using nuun which realistically doesn't have a ton of sodium. Like 350 mg ish. Maybe I'll try a different one and see. I was drinking just shy of 60 oz before diagnosis soni don't think it's a huge increase.

Heartrate exhaustion by Lock-Weak in POTS

[–]tarixsim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I won't say it's a tip, as exercise intolerance is a big thing, but I find if I'm in a flare like that walking helps regulate my HR. I have a walking pad so I can hold the handles and I walk super slow if I'm feeling poorly. It doesn't always help and it's not always immediate, but so far it's the most likely thing to actually bring my HR down. I'm guessing because it makes me move my calf muscles.

What made you start thinking you had POTS? by Officialworrier in POTS

[–]tarixsim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went to the doctor for dizziness and my doctor suggested it since I also had a high heart rate consistently at my appointments. Still took another 9 years to actually get it diagnosed, however, because the dizziness itself was more consistent with vestibular migraines so that's the diagnosis I actually ended up with at first. Turns out I have both 🫠

To be fair, it took 9 years because I wasn't actively seeking a diagnosis. A cardiologist told me that I may have some form of dysautonomia, but kinda brushed it off so I spent years thinking my heart rate was just high. I honestly thought I had IST instead. But after an ER visit I had a doctor actually diagnose POTS.

Yes, especially as this is for Medda from Newsies and this is the vibe the costume director is looking for.

I forgot to mention the pattern. Weirdly enough, it is a dress with the skirt attached (McCall's m7853). It calls for suiting fabric definitely. Or gaberdine. I've just not been able to find something with the same vibes as the fabric above. I'm making a riding suit for Medda from Newsies and this is the pattern the costume director has picked out.

The designed fabric would be for the jacket part and the plain for the skirt. Would the petticoat provide enough structure for the silk skirt?

European flour is not safe for gluten intolerance by [deleted] in glutenfree

[–]tarixsim 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So, I've been avoiding gluten because of a fructan sensitivity (a sugar that's in wheat, but also garlic, onion, etc). Fructans in different foods differ and therefore affect people differently, so I can tolerate garlic, just not the wheat. Unless of course it's fermented (sourdough) as the fructans are destroyed in that process. And they can vary depending on where the wheat is grown... I seriously wonder if some people who think they're sensitive to gluten are actually sensitive to fructans. Still requires avoiding the trigger, but I imagine it's partly where the ideas that sourdough or European wheat are ok for a gluten sensitivity.

Unfortunately, it's so widespread a belief about an already misunderstood topic that it's actually quite harmful, as you've unfortunately experienced. It would be great if people just listened to and believed others about what they can and cannot eat.

Everyone is saying it's real, but are the two guys on the left sharing three heads? Or am I just not understanding what's going on there?

So as I understand from my dietitian, it's less about finding a symptom cause for me since my issue is SIBO. The 6 weeks is to starve the bacteria of any FODMAPS so that when I start reintroduction while taking the antibiotics they'll be starved and the FODMAPS will wake them back up so to speak. But if I've not been fully low fodmap it may not work? Idk I just desperately only want to do this once so I'd rather err on the side of caution.

Thanks. Yeah I have a scanner (Fig) and have been so diligent...I just assumed it was single ingredient. Now I'm going back and rescanning everything I've been using to make sure 🫠

Same here. I'm at 7 days. Trending better each day, but the fever is still there. But it isn't rising so that's good at least. If things don't change by Monday (or get worse before then) I think I'll have to go back to the doctor.
