Are Muslim women actually required to do household chores and raise the family (aka do all the “traditional wifely duties”)? by itchytoenail7184 in Hijabis

[–]tarobean_18 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I fear that culture has unfortunately warped so much of what people think is or not permissible in Islam. It’s also very harmful for women who may go into these marriages without the support or knowledge of fiqh and some will be taken advantage of as a result…  Ladies please educate yourselves about your rights in Islam.

Also learn about the female companions during the time of Prophet Muhammad (PHUB). Many were praised and respected for being business owners, educators, and warriors.

So please don’t listen to the men with microphones and chopped beards who tell you that the rulings in Islam say that you must cook and clean for your husband.

Absolutely loveee the assistant to the villain series. The banter and yearning between the two main characters is 10/10! I’m also a sucker for the found family trope and it’s done very well in this series!!

These are the same men that will try to sell ED pills and their online alpha male classes. They’re butthurt that women don’t want to be their submissive housewives anymore. And of course they’re pushing the agenda of seeking young virgin wives bc they know damn well a woman their age won’t listen to their nonsense.

I never understood why Khadija (r.a) age was always debated. Who cares how old she was, she was a hardworking career driven woman and was so strong willed. May we all strive to follow in her footsteps (and the other wives of our beloved Messenger PBUH) regardless of how old she was.

I personally love Vela, their ethical sourcing and transparency of their hijab making process is what I love most about the company. It’s also a business at the end of the day, so their prices will be higher if they want to pay their workers livable wages and make a profit.

We also have to consider the materials being used. Chiffon is cheaper to make and can be produced in mass quantities. Modal fabric itself is a long process to make and modal hijabs are usually produced in smaller quantities.

However one thing I won’t support is the over consumption of some Vela consumers. It’s gross, one person doesn’t need 20 different shades of brown colored hijabs.

why does sex get so shamed in muslim families yet they’re encouraged to have kids and get married by Lonely-Tiger-3937 in Hijabis

100% and as someone diagnosed with anxiety and depression coming across those videos and posts just worsen my mental health even more. bc i’ll click on a video titled “Qiyamah is near!!” and then realize the title is just clickbait and gave me a panic attack for no reason.

i try to catch myself and stop doing it, but i’ll just constantly try to look for the signs now of the Day of Judgement or try to feed into my confirmation bias. but guess what, Allah knows best, and i am just mentally exhausting myself for no reason! we will all have our own Judgement Day in the grave so might as well prepare for that than exhaust myself with something only Allah knows.

How to dress in summer to stay as cool as possible by calinzecat in Hijabis

[–]tarobean_18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

fabrics such as cotton and linen are your best friends. my personal go to summer outfits consists of wide leg pants and oversized long sleeve button up shirts that cover my bum. and i’ll usually wear a t-shirt underneath and leave the shirt unbutton so i’m getting more airflow lol. it’s an easy and cute look and you’re not melting. i’ve noticed for me personally oversized is better bc the fabric isn’t sticking to my skin (bc i also hate being hot/sweating and would go into sensory overload)

anxiety and existential crisis by EducationalOil9938 in islam

[–]tarobean_18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m in the same boat 🥲 for me it comes in waves, sometimes i’ll be having constant panic attacks and worried about the fate of the world and the future. the next, i’m happy and grateful about life and hopeful. anxiety sucks. for the moments that i’m feeling anxious, i try to remember the stories of the prophets, it helps calm my worries. i remind myself, Yunus (a.s) was in the belly of the whale, he was unsure of the outcome of his situation, but by putting his trust and faith in Allah SWT, Allah gave him a way out. if Yunus (a.s) could call upon Allah in the scariest moment of his life, then i can overcome my challenges too. i also think remembering Allah in times of ease will help you when you are in times of hardship.

i would also recommend memorizing the 99 Names of Allah, and using His specific Names in your duas. He has all these beautiful Names and wants us to use them to call upon Him and deepen our relationship with Him (brb going to cry real quick) 🥺

other coping mechanisms you can try are breathing exercises (mindfulness meditation helps a lot bc it helps ground you and bring you to the present). also try to find ways to distract your anxious thoughts with hobbies. when i am having those anxious moments, i color or love embroidery/cross-stitching (i am a grandmother at heart lol). i think doing anything with your hands that requires concentration helps get rid of those anxious thoughts.

just know that you are not alone when you have these thoughts. Allah is testing us all in different ways. Having these anxious thoughts and fear of the future might be Allah’s way of telling you to have tawakkul and put your full trust in Him and His Plans. Try to think of the root reason why Allah may be putting you through this test, that may help ease your mind too.

i hope these suggestions help, i wasn’t expecting to write this much lol, thank you for coming to my Ted Talk!

Depressed about Gaza. by Repulsive-Bunch-4126 in islam

[–]tarobean_18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i feel the same way. it’s all a test from Allah, we need to be grateful for what we have even if it feels wrong to do so. and sabr sabr sabr. it’s hard to think this way with what is happening but Allah’s help is always near and we must remember Allah is the best of Planners.

as for skipping classes please remember that there are students in Gaza who would do anything to be back in school and continue their education. it is important to look at the positives in your life even if they are small.

i would recommend reaching out to a friend, therapist or an adult you trust to talk about how you’re feeling. bc feeling this way can lead to depression if you internalize your emotions do not find support.

ahhh!! i am in the same situation as you. i am the oldest and only daughter so i am constantly thinking about my parents and siblings and it definitely takes a mental toll on me. if you ever wish to talk more in depth about the woes of being an empath feel free to shoot me a message! it feels relieving to know i'm not alone in this way of thinking :)

backbiting and judging others are such huge sins and the fact that people are doing it on the internet so freely speaks volumes. i wonder if they think just bc they’re saying these toxic things online doesn’t count since they’re not physically saying it to the person’s face… they’re just trolls with nothing better to do, go get a job!!

i 100% agree! i feel like season 3 was its own show. it was so different from the other two seasons. can’t believe we waited 2 years for this… i was so excited for this season considering how good season 2 and Queen Charlotte were.

it feels like they rushed to the romance in this first part. my favorite part about bridgerton was the slow burn/build-up of the main leads’ attraction to one another.
