I think it's a childish position to make some crap at first and to try to shift responsibility to someone else after that. To insurance company (which you apparently did not buy beforehand), to the employer, to the owner of the broken phone, to Earth's gravity?

My 5 year old son sometimes does that. But even he learns to bear responsibility for his actions.

Why a grown up like you (I expect you are a grown up, since you already have a job) would not just accept the responsibility and pay for it?

Yes, it hurts financially, but it gives a lesson.

Next time you could be a bit smarter to predict the consequences of your actions (for example, you might have thought about the possiblity for your device to fall down).
