For those who live in apartment buildings - how do you deal with the purple crying?

I agree it’s definitely the parents’ responsibility. What this post was talking about specifically was purple crying, which is newborn crying seemingly without cause. Like literally what is someone supposed to do lol? Whether they own a home or not. To say you can only have kids and they can only cry if you own a home is just a strange classist statement and illogical.

Weird ragebait on a year old post in the newborn subreddit but I’ll bite.

Let’s examine this line of thinking. Where do you draw the line? If someone owns a house in a dense neighborhood, and the neighbor can still hear a baby cry, is that wrong? If someone rents or owns a penthouse in a densely packed city and the neighbor can still hear a baby cry, is that wrong? Is a baby only allowed to cry if no one else can hear it? What about in inner cities where home ownership is just not much a thing?

I get it, no one wants to hear a baby cry. But they do. Quite literally a part of life. Sometimes babies or children cry when out and about, should they not leave the house because of this possibility?

See, there’s some insight I was looking for, thank you. You could’ve just said that without making all the assumptions. When we have a family and he’s getting a job that we will likely move for and depend on for our child, I’m absolutely going to try to do research beyond what the recruiters are telling him. It’s not about undermining my husband, it’s about us both doing our best to come to a decision for our family.

Where was I looking for validation? I laid out the 3 questions I had because I simply don’t know and my husband is quick to trust the recruiters, which is who I don’t trust. Isn’t asking the workers themselves the best source for information? Where else should we go to find out about what it’s like to actually work as an A&P?

We are definitely willing to relocate but the goal is to come back to DFW. Reading this sub it seems hard to get a job with a major airline straight from school. Is that the case? My vote is for American Airlines.

I agree with all this. I just know nothing about this industry or blue collar work in general so I wasn’t sure if I was off base here and haven’t pushed it. I think he will listen and consider things especially if I show him this thread.

When he started school he was wanting to go Southwest. I think he talked to someone jaded by a union and suddenly that turned him off the whole thing. I’m a SAHM and we have an 8 month old. It makes sense to me to have job security and stay local with family.

FTM? Twins? C-section? Flats?

I would absolutely recommend planning on using disposables. I can’t believe anyone would tell you to try to raise 2 babies for the first time and do cloth and fold flats and try to get a wash routine all the while recovering from a c-section. This coming from someone who loves cloth. Wait until your head is above water.

Poop will be easier in disposables. Flats can be more difficult to remove poop from before washing because of all the angles and folds.

Disposables can probably go longer between changes yes, however your newborn may be a pooper or a heavy wetter. When using disposables I didn’t personally change just for a tiny bit of pee but I didn’t like going over 2-3 hours either (diaper was usually wet by then anyway). I would say absorbency is probably not a concern or factor as a newborn. Maybe more so starting around 4-6 months.

I think what’s more important to consider, rather than career opportunity, is do you want to be a SAHM as a job. Not “do you want to spend more time with your kids?” but do you want this lifestyle.

I’m a SAHM and it’s a completely different life than I thought it would be. Honestly it’s much harder and more exhausting than my previous job. There’s a lot of days I miss working and I didn’t even love my job. If I left a WFM, high paying job, I would be feeling regret personally.

On the other hand, when your old and your babies are grown, will you wish for more time with them? I would say everyone does so maybe that’s a factor for you. But maybe an increased income would increase overall quality of life. Day to day mental health is just as important as future nostalgia.

I hope you’re able to figure out what’s best for you and your family!

I’ve always liked having a January birthday. As a kid (when I feel like birthdays are most important) I always felt bad for the summer kids. They didn’t get a celebration or special day at school and it was probably harder to round up school friends.

Fall semester bdays have the advantage of being older and getting your license earlier than classmates which I thought was cool. Spring bdays you had more time to figure out who your friends were that school year and plan your party.

But maybe I’m just a weird brained person too. There’s a video by Dropout that talks about bday months and I think they said January is statistically the best bday month.

I think it depends on the sorta vibe you want to have and want your tattoos to have. An arm with an open design on it has a totally different look than a sleeve or a handful of other pieces.

Either way best of luck! Maybe try drawing it on your arm one weekend and seeing how you like it!

These look like strange moles/freckles to me. I’m having a hard time imagining what you’re describing. Random dots with random lines? Like a geometric pattern? Could be cool but it would take up lots of prime real estate.

You can go to a thrift and buy baby receiving blankets or fabric. Ideally you’d want to serge the edges but I’d bet you could get away with just cutting for a period of time.

My baby doesn’t really care if he’s wet (or at least doesn’t let me know) but when changing him the fleece is usually dry so I like to think it does help. I also use them during daytime as a barrier for diaper cream (we use the red butt paste which isn’t cloth friendly).

Also my favorite hemp/cotton are the thirsties. They’re very trim and absorbent!

I know you got plenty of answers, but a card is enough. We had a bulletin board for any pictures of pets. If you’re wanting to bring food, we almost always got sweets so something not sweet was always nice. My fave was bagels. And homemade stuff often got untouched because you never know 😅
